More JPEG V RAW jointly from anni and doug06 Apr 2007 02:42 GMT7
The only person to take up my offer of original files when I posted my JPEG
V RAW comparison was Bret (annika1980). He subsequently did a makeover on
the bird. Probably getting ready for a TV series... I'm in for 40% if he is.
Helen will get 10% for sure.
A real test of RAW V JPEG... You decide.06 Apr 2007 02:36 GMT54
Whilst lazing away at Tangalooma over the weekend, many thoughts and ideas
occurred to me. Not the least being that the only images of mine anyone has
pinched, are the very ones I used to prevent theft! When I post good ones,
few detractors even bothers to pass comment on them!

5D Meets Hummingbird05 Apr 2007 05:01 GMT37
I finally got a chance to shoot hummers with the new 5D and my 400mm
5.6L. I didn't use my typical lighting set up because I wanted to
emphasize feather detail. So I only used light from one direction. The
following is a full-size crop.
THE 20D KEEPS ME IN STITCHES !05 Apr 2007 04:13 GMT32
Saw a Great Blue Heron today and since he was only a few yards from my
car I fired off a few shots with the 20D and the 400 f/5.6L.  He was
actually too close to get him all in the frame with the 400mm focal
length and my other lenses were in the trunk.  Since he seemed

It is my assumption that if you only use RAW mode then all settings like:

What camera or lens do you wish you still had?04 Apr 2007 08:40 GMT57
My first "serious" camera was a Minolta XG-9 with a 28-85 Vivitar
zoom... back when Vivitar was good... that I purchased used in 1983.
It served me well for over 15 years before the camera body went
belly-up.

Great News!  The Canon EOS-1DS Mk III uses Embedded Win32!04 Apr 2007 02:09 GMT21
For maximum efficiency in running the dual Digic III processor engine Canon
has elected to use Embedded Win32.  This is really exciting and
groundbreaking news that will surely have even more Nikon users jump ship
and come over to the Canon camp.  This is going to be one sweet ...
