While I like my Nikon Super Coolscan 5000 ED, I have this
persistent problem: a  red "fog" sometimes is seen on one edge
of a scan. Here are some particulars.
  Film is Kodak NC & UC.

I have been looking for a good bird lens and this looks very interesting but
likely to be out of my price range :)
