Nikon D50 with Starblitz 3600 DS flash07 Dec 2006 19:05 GMT1
I have an old Starblitz 3600 DS flash from my SLR days and I am
wondering if it can be used with my Nikon D50?  What would be the
limitations in functionality?  And, where could I find a SD-System base
unit that would work with my Nikon DSLR?

ANNI'S HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE: TIP #106 Dec 2006 17:35 GMT18
Going through some old family photos I found a photo of my parents
which was taken about 9 months before I was born.  This particular
slide was well-preserved and still looks like it was taken last week
(Kodachrome rules!).  I then found a photo of myself (I don't have

Good format ?  Rule of Thirds.06 Dec 2006 00:52 GMT6
I saw the thread about rule of thirds.
Would this apply to formats as wel.
In general I like the 2:3 format better than the 3:4 format.
Should I adopt the 1:1.618 (Phi) format ?
Leica Viewfinder Magnification - Recommendations05 Dec 2006 22:37 GMT4
I have coveted owning a Leica for years.  I have a very tiny window in
purchasing
a fantastic (but 2000 miles away) Leica MP.  However, it has a .85
viewfinder.
Voigtlander color skopar project05 Dec 2006 21:29 GMT2
I was planning a little project to use a color skopar lens from a
scrapped Vito B ( beautifully over engineered camera that ensured the
demise of the German camera industry) to adapt it to a L39 body....
Cosina Bessa L...sort of ironic innit?
Canon EF 50mm 50 F2.5 Macro vs EF-S 60mm F2.8 Macro USM Lens05 Dec 2006 18:45 GMT1
I have the EOS Digital Rebel XT and I am looking for a macro lens.  Can
anybody tell give me some info on these two lenses: Canon EF 50mm 50
F2.5 Macro vs EF-S 60mm F2.8 Macro USM Lens.
The USM is naturally more expensive but other than that, what
Film Availability04 Dec 2006 23:26 GMT60
The amount of both Kodak and Fuji film on the shelves at Wal-Mart, Target,
etc seems down from last year, but there are still a large number of single
use cameras on the racks.  Convenience and grocery stores still sell film
and the amount of rack space doesn't seem to have ...

My girlfriend's dad has broken a wind-arm on his Nikon FG20 SLR and has
asked me if i can find out what a new body would cost and what upgrade from
the FG20 would be good.  I have seen these bodies sell for around £40 on

Old Minolta Rokkor lens on EOS DSRL APS-C body !03 Dec 2006 10:47 GMT2
I'm interested to use my Rokkor lens on a modern CANON EOS DSRL (with

I know that the distance between the sensor and the focal plane is
43.5mm on Minolta MC mount and is 44m on CANON EOS mount. This
