I Took My ES-II Out Today . . .24 Dec 2006 05:24 GMT1
. . . and you should have seen all the looks it got from people!  Why, you'd
have thought that none of 'em had ever seen a 35mm SLR before.
"What kind of camera is THAT?"
"How many megapixels does it have?"

[SI]Tripod Holes Comments23 Dec 2006 20:04 GMT30
OK, someone has to do it, so here's my usual collection of uninformed
observations on the last mandate, "Tripod Holes." The goal was to shoot the
same shot as a million others have done, but make it different. I think.
There are three very worn out subjects presented among the ...
Nikon F2 photomic & nikkormat EL are pre-AI?23 Dec 2006 19:40 GMT25
I'm looking at a 50mm f/1.2 MF lens but the seller wants to sell the
body also, which I wouldn't mind if I could use my G lenses on it.
Are the nikon F2 photomic and/or nikkormat EL pre-AI type bodies and
will they be able to control a G lens with no aperture ring?
Canon 200FD 2.8 lens question23 Dec 2006 04:06 GMT1
I have just picked up one of these Canon 200mm 2.8 lenses at a good price
after lusting after one for years. Anyone here use one that can share some
of its good points and weak ones?
Also, I have the Canon 2x-B converter that I hear works quite well with this
Red filter needed for Rollei IR400 Infrared film?22 Dec 2006 17:44 GMT2
Hi, all! :)  Just picked up a couple rolls of Rollei IR400 infrared,
and since I've never shot Rollei before, I was wondering if I still
need to use a red filter (#29?) with it?  I seem to recall reading
somewhere (not the Rollei site) that you don't have to use a red
REDHEADS LOVE THE 20D !22 Dec 2006 13:36 GMT3
There's just something about the 20D that makes those
big old nasty redheads just stop and stare.

Priorities22 Dec 2006 02:57 GMT6
Just yesterday I was wishing I had $2000 so I could get a sweet Canon
85mm f/1.2L II.
Then Buster blew out his knee.
Today, I wish I had the money for my dog to have knee surgery.
17-40L contrast21 Dec 2006 23:55 GMT6
I've been shooting with a 17-40L recently and there are times it almost
seems too contrasty.  I'm sure nothing is wrong with the lens.  I base this
observation on experience using an older 28mm 2.8 EF.
I'm still using film, so I wonder if these newer designed lenses are
ANNI'S LATEST LENS TESTS !21 Dec 2006 22:37 GMT12
I just finished looking at full-sized comparisons from my latest lens
testing.
I did the "brick wall" test shooting the house across the street from
my driveway.
First Scans With Nikon V ED21 Dec 2006 22:16 GMT12
Greetings All...
I've posted a little five frame gallery on PBase of some Grand Canyon shots
from 2002.  Considering these are my first attempts, I'm pretty happy with
how they turned out.

San Diego Snow...Self Portraits...and Naps21 Dec 2006 10:36 GMT8
If you want to capture snow, you need low, angled light...and last night I
discovered that car headlights fit the bill rather well...
San Diego is known for it's mild weather year-round...but even San Diego's
local mountains can put on their own Winter display from time to time.
