Velvia 50 May Return!
There may be some light at the end of the tunnel for photographers who
rely on Velvia 50. A press release from Fuji UK promises a spring 2007

The day the world outside of the United States was waiting for, the American
people (enough of them) came to their senses, enough was enough, time out
was called on the lies, the hypocrisy, the corruption, the policy failures,
the perversions, the indifference, the degeneracy, ...
WHAT DEFINES ANY PARTICULAR MODEL OF A CAMERA "PROFESSIONAL"?18 Nov 2006 22:21 GMT52
I watched something very interesting on tv over the weekend.  I came in
the middle of the program so I didn't catch all of it.  But it raised
an interesting question:  What defines a professional camera?  The
people who were asked this question were photojournalists, professional

Those who haven't submitted are disgraceful.  You still have time to
redeem yourselves and attain a state of grace by submitting.
Is "L" glass that good?16 Nov 2006 10:46 GMT61
Another post made me think of this question...
Would an "L" zoom, or it's other brand equivalent, be good enough to

Adding quick release to non-quick-release Manfrotto head14 Nov 2006 09:50 GMT2
I have a Manfrotto #115 head and really miss having quik release. I see
from the manfrotto catalog that they sell 'plate adaptors' will this do
what I want - i.e. screw onto the head I've got and give me a quick
release?

I just shot a roll of color negative film with a Minolta SR7 and lenses of
the same vintage (40+ years!). They all still work, not perfectly but
usably! They were my father's.
However: I was really surprised at relatively low contrast and sharpness

The Zeiss Myth...12 Nov 2006 15:44 GMT68
I got this off of a side link from one Jeremy posted in the "Speaking
of Bokeh" thread. Hilights (blur circles may not be any thing or the
only thing to consider in bokeh (Zeiss lenses still have wonderfully
soft bokeh both sides of the focus plane) but if one were looking at
