Just lost an old friend27 Nov 2006 02:49 GMT17
Sold my Nikon FE and three lenses on ebay this weekend.  Hopefully t
good homes.  I'm still shooting film, and used the FE once in a whil
on business trips, but with digital I've moved to Canon lenses an
flashes, and have an EOS-3 for film work. I kept the 105mm portrai
Question about a 28mm lens26 Nov 2006 23:15 GMT1
Picked up a 2.8 28mm lens for next to nothing that I thought was a Minolta
mount, but it doesn't fit my XE-7. It's a bayonet, the backcap says
"Asahi." Pentax mount maybe? Is there an adapter out there perhaps?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Top tips26 Nov 2006 18:00 GMT99
Thanks everyone for taking part in the "Top tips" debate, even those that
were very judgemental of me and my abilities.  My photographic abilities may
be average but it doesn't stop me taking the odd decent picture, with your
tips I'll maybe get a few more.

Indoor lighting, B&W film, and colour shift?26 Nov 2006 05:24 GMT2
Is it possible to tell from a B&W photo if it was shot with natural
light, rather than indoor artificial light?
With regular colour film, using it under some types of artificial
lighting can produce a colour shift and give the photo a different

Gray market and US exports25 Nov 2006 17:41 GMT8
Living in Canada I find that many retailers choose not to compete with
the international market on price. Specifically, US mail order prices are
often a lot cheaper for top end equipment. I do wonder, however, if I ever
had a warranty problem on US purchases how it would be ...

Nikon lens compatabilties24 Nov 2006 12:52 GMT12
Anyone know if the newer Nikon digital cameras D80 and D200 accept older
Nikon fit manual lenses AIs etc.
If they do fit are there any working limitations apart from autofocus
abviously. I asume Matrix metering dosent work any thing else.
[SI] 21st Century Fetish comments23 Nov 2006 22:16 GMT27
Small, but good group of photos for this mandate. My comments, as usual,
must be taken with huge grains of salt since I really don't know what I'm
talking about. A few thoughts:
