How to change lighting31 Oct 2006 13:55 GMT2
Sorry for the choice of topic which is not precise.
I have taken some pictures inndoors, where to get the korners of the
building clear I had to use long shutter time without flash. As
expected there is yellow light cast from the lighting of the house on
Worth it to repair Canon AE-1? (broken "linkage")31 Oct 2006 11:02 GMT3
Seems my "linkage" is broken on my AE-1.
Everytime I advance the film winder it takes a shot. (film does advance, but
shutter does not remain cocked).
Is it worth repairing, or just buy another?
Digital prints from negatives31 Oct 2006 03:05 GMT58
I live in a city with two recognized, well-established, "real" photo shops,
which sell cameras, lenses, darkroom chemicals etc, have apparently
knowledgeable staff and do processing. Both have good reputations, founded
in pre-digital days, but neither seems capable of producing a ...
Enlargements29 Oct 2006 18:09 GMT1
Can anyone recommend a UK lab for getting enlargements up to 18" x 12"
although my main sizes will be around 10" or 12" x 8".  Somewhere with a
good service and reasonable prices would be good.  Any I should avoid?
Your suggestions are appreciated.
Cheap P&T Tripod Head29 Oct 2006 15:23 GMT4
My mother has just bought herself a new tripod and doesn't like the head on
it - she asked me to help her find a replacement.  Now, it's a long time
since I bought a cheap tripod head, so my experience is actually not all
that relevant to her needs.  She hasn't said whether she ...
Flash unit for Nikon F2 Photomic?28 Oct 2006 22:04 GMT12
Ok, it has the "pro foot" mount but can be adapted to the ISO with the AS-1.
TTL would be a waste. So, I need a good manual flash. SB-5 looks like a
great choice but where can I find one? Same with the SB-7E. How reliable
would a unit that old be? How about a Vivitar 283? ...

Hi @all!
I'd like to change the standard (type K) focusing screen of my Nikon FE.
I have sometimes difficulties to focus when I make astro-photos.
I prefer to buy the best focusing screen for astro-photography ( bright,
[SI] Shoot-In, "Timing" Comments28 Oct 2006 15:20 GMT11
Here in Newfoundland, the grass needs mowed and the SI submissions
need critiqued. Hummm, which will I do first....  OK, that was

I like this mandate but I think that Jim gave several of us an easy

Flash update: Metz 45 CL-127 Oct 2006 19:22 GMT11
Thanks again to all that responded to my inquiry about a flash unit for my
F2. Since the Metz 45 had multiple recommendations I decided to look into
that one. The reviews were impressive.
Next step was to check ebay. To make a long story, er ahh, shorter, I got a

Have You Gone Digital Yet?26 Oct 2006 18:18 GMT58
An interesting comment, quoted from a web site:
"The question "have you gone digital yet?" is a presumptuous fallacy is
pushed by camera stores and camera makers, since they make big bucks when
you buy a digital camera that you'll want to replace in a few years.
