When do you need a hood?07 May 2006 05:15 GMT11
How do you decide when you need to put a hood on a lens? I've read that
a hood is supposed to prevent flare, but what are likely conditions for
flare to appear? What does it depend on - the focal length, the angle
between you subject and the light, filters used, anything else?
[SI] Request for new rulz page admin06 May 2006 20:54 GMT9
It's not that I don't want to, but travel and work are taking a lot of
time so I have less time to attend to the rulz page.   Or more
specifically I'm not around when new mandates are posted to add them to
the mandate page in a timely fashion.

Somewhere in the last twenty years or so I have seen a photo I would
like to find again. The photo as I remember was of either Max Berek or
Oscar Barnack sitting at a work table at the Leitz factory in Germany.
The severe looking person was seated toward the left and was facing the

Infrared  - black-and-white???04 May 2006 18:55 GMT13
Does anyone have experience using this kind of film?  I've been
thinking about photographing manmade subjects like cars or buildings.
I was a bit surprised at the cost, about $16/roll and about $30/roll
for color slides.  Putting that aside, can anyone give me
Nikon FE Problem04 May 2006 16:59 GMT9
This is my 2nd and "new" Nikon FE body.  Was working
fine last time I used it, but has been idle for a while... maybe

Pushed the shutter, mirror came up but then nothing.

Flash for Fujica STX-1N03 May 2006 13:41 GMT1
I recently picked up a Fujica STX-1N and was wondering what kind of
flash should I get for it. This is my first SLR so I haven't any
experience with hotshoe flash. Also how much would I expect to pay for
a flash?

Photojournalism is tough to do in a big crowd.
Editing was quick & dirty.
I'm not even sure how I feel about this immigrant issue. I was curious,
