| cleaning SLR mirror | 03 Feb 2006 21:26 GMT | 12 |
My SRT SLR mirror was dirty from mirror gunk (since replaced). I know the warnings about cleaning SLR mirrors. I practiced A LOT on my junker camera. Seems that denatured alcohol cleaned fine, but left colored streaks. Lens cleaning fluid did the same. My best results came from

| Buying used lenses | 02 Feb 2006 22:31 GMT | 5 |
When buying used lenses, what to look at, what to check? It so happens I am going to be in Tokyo soon and I'll try to buy a couple of Canon lenses - I hear it's a good place to buy used photo stuff. But I am going to be there just for one day and I am not sure I

| Canon 24-70/2.8L discontinued? | 02 Feb 2006 15:53 GMT | 9 |
Speaking with a friend, I mentioned in passing today that I'm on the verge of caving and buying the Canon 24-70/2.8L, and he told me to hurry because the lens had been discontinued. It is still available, though it seems more expensive than I'd remembered... is it slated to

| Minolta X 700 | 02 Feb 2006 14:10 GMT | 7 |
I have a Minolta X700. I just bought fresh batteries. However, it doesn't seem to work anymore. It's been years since I used it. I was wondering if the film had to loaded to work? Or should I take it to a camera shop to have it fixed? Any idea what it might cost to fix?

| Recommendations? | 02 Feb 2006 02:08 GMT | 10 |
Howdy. I'm looking for a small camera to take with me on the road (line haul trucking, to be exact). I might take my digital (I know, anathema to this group), but I'd just as soon take a 35mm camera.

| What to do? Opinions needed! | 02 Feb 2006 01:40 GMT | 19 |
I have been using an SLR for years and years and enjoy the whole concept of film cameras. I was given a digital camera for Christmas, and I don't like it. It's an expensive Canon A620 and I find it hard to get use to. Hard to understand (I know I'm not up to date). The person

| Cleaning an old 35mm lens barrel | 01 Feb 2006 21:40 GMT | 12 |
I have an old 35mm lens that I want to sell. The glass is flawless but the metal barrel is dirty -- looks like accumulated finger grease and dirt from years of handling. What would be a good solvent/chemical for cleaning the barrel that won't mess up any of the plastic or ...
