cleaning SLR mirror03 Feb 2006 21:26 GMT12
My SRT SLR mirror was dirty from mirror gunk (since replaced).  I know the
warnings about cleaning SLR mirrors.  I practiced A LOT on my junker
camera. Seems that denatured alcohol cleaned fine, but left colored
streaks.  Lens cleaning fluid did the same.  My best results came from
Nikkor - overview?03 Feb 2006 12:02 GMT16
Sorry if I ask an old question, I'm new to this NG and gave up searching
elsewhere, and before doing anything stupid on ebay I wanted to be informed.
Can anybody give me a link to an overview of the Nikon lenses where I can
learn something about the differences in quality between ...

Next step after 50mm03 Feb 2006 00:37 GMT7
sorry if this question has been covered elsewhere, but I've searched a
bit and can't find it..
I'm fairly new to photography (about 5 months in), and have a Canon Eos
500n, for which I bought the 50mm f1.8 II (with which I am extremely
Buying used lenses02 Feb 2006 22:31 GMT5
When buying used lenses, what to look at, what to check?
It so happens I am going to be in Tokyo soon and I'll try to buy a
couple of Canon lenses - I hear it's a good place to buy used photo
stuff. But I am going to be there just for one day and I am not sure I
Canon 24-70/2.8L discontinued?02 Feb 2006 15:53 GMT9
Speaking with a friend, I mentioned in passing today that I'm on the
verge of caving and buying the Canon 24-70/2.8L, and he told me to
hurry because the lens had been discontinued. It is still available,
though it seems more expensive than I'd remembered... is it slated to
Minolta  X 70002 Feb 2006 14:10 GMT7
I have a Minolta X700. I just bought fresh batteries. However, it doesn't
seem to work anymore. It's been years since I used it. I was wondering if
the film had to loaded to work? Or should I take it to a camera shop to have
it fixed? Any idea what it might cost to fix?

Alienjones...
Hmmm fine example from a point and shoot camera. Olympus 760 wasn't it? Pity
the 20D used along side it couldn't produce a picture this pleasing. So much
for sensor noise, eh? Almost ruined the shot with it!
Recommendations?02 Feb 2006 02:08 GMT10
Howdy.
I'm looking for a small camera to take with me on the road (line haul
trucking, to be exact).  I might take my digital (I know, anathema to
this group), but I'd just as soon take a 35mm camera.
What to do? Opinions needed!02 Feb 2006 01:40 GMT19
I have been using an SLR for years and years and enjoy the whole
concept of film cameras. I was given a digital camera for Christmas,
and I don't like it. It's an expensive Canon A620 and I find it hard to
get use to. Hard to understand (I know I'm not up to date).  The person
Cleaning an old 35mm lens barrel01 Feb 2006 21:40 GMT12
I have an old 35mm lens that I want to sell.  The glass is flawless but the
metal barrel is dirty -- looks like accumulated finger grease and dirt from
years of handling.  What would be a good solvent/chemical for cleaning the
barrel that won't mess up any of the plastic or ...
Any known probs with Eos 50Es?01 Feb 2006 18:32 GMT1
I am looking to buy a canon EOS 50E after the death of my 650 and was
wondering if there were any known faults that develop in these cameras
with age/use to look out for.
Cheers
