The reasonning behind digital?06 Feb 2006 15:04 GMT32
I was talking with a friend and he told me that digital cellular was
created not because it is better (apparently analog cellular is better
[?]), but because it has a bigger bandwidth and cellphone companies can
squeeze more communications into the same amount of space, making it
Shutter Speeds to Hand-Hold 280mm IS?06 Feb 2006 07:28 GMT7
I use a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 IS USM lens with a 1.4x Converter on a
20D.  At full zoom of 280mm, I have to shoot at 1/500 of a second to
reliably get sharp shots.  At 1/250 I get an occasional sharp shot
but most exhibit camera movement.  At 1/125 it's pretty much useless.

Go to my homepage and select either the Flash or non-Flash galleries.
This Flash version is MUCH better than the previous one I had used - it

Did those digital film cartridges ever come out?05 Feb 2006 16:12 GMT9
I remember many moons ago that someone was talking about a cartridge
that would convert a 35mm camera to a digital - called Silicon Film or
something.
Was it ever produced (or did anyone else produce one)?
Mourning Minolta05 Feb 2006 14:28 GMT23
The first slr I ever saw or used was my father's SR7. I still have some
lenses from that vintage. I wish I had the camera.
Minolta cameras were my introduction to photography and have always been
favorites.
What constitutes highest quality? 35mm still rules digital - don't get that started05 Feb 2006 06:20 GMT21
What constitutes the highest quality? 35mm still rules over digital

Not Your Normal Photography Course05 Feb 2006 05:49 GMT2
Has any one taken the Not Your Normal Photography Course?  I took the NYIP
course and just heard about this one and the reviews on the site say it is
pretty good.  Many of them are NYIP students.  Anybody try it?  Thanks.
Ric.

Speaking of the Super Bowl...  semi OT04 Feb 2006 23:28 GMT5
...I could really give two turds about the Super Bowl in general (no offense
to those who feel otherwise), but, the Michigan Dept. of Agriculture, for
whom I am employed, is promoting Michigan grown foods down at the Renaisance
Center in Detroit all week, and that happens to be ...

Illogical emotional attachment?04 Feb 2006 05:04 GMT21
The current threads on best/worst lenses is interesting, and many here
know my recent saga in purchasing my Canon 70-200 f2/8L IS, which
brings me to what was supposed to be my next step... selling a couple
of redundant lenses.
