Canon A1 how do I check it's ok?21 Feb 2006 03:08 GMT5
I hav two Canon A1's that haven't been used for 3 - 4 years. I want to test
them out to see if they are ok. The trouble is I don't know what to do? I
figure I could just run some film through them and pop down to CVS to check
out the results but there must be more I can do to check ...
Wide-angle prime for Canon?20 Feb 2006 20:44 GMT11
I am just learning to take pictures and decided to buy the second lens
(the first being Canon 50/1.4). I want it to be wide-angle, suitable for
street photography and landscapes (right now I am taking pictures with
Canon EOS 50, but I don't want to invest in a lens that would be
Self-timer help please20 Feb 2006 20:24 GMT1
I've just bought a small item - a 'no name' self-timer to use with my older
gear (and Bronica ETR-Si).  See: http://tinyurl.com/on25a.  I'm struggling
to use it as I expected.
I thought it would just screw into place, you'd wind the timer mechanism and
CLA worthwhile?20 Feb 2006 16:44 GMT1
I have a Canon EOS3 body that has quite a few years on it and has never been
serviced.  It works fine but I was thinking that it may need a
clean-lube-adjust.
I have also heard that some recommend doing nothing until a camera truly
Canon domination?20 Feb 2006 10:58 GMT241
Of course we have all heard the claims of how Canon dominates the sports
market and how anyone not using those cameras at sports events is
wasting their time and money.
Well, at this past weekend's A1GP I must report that the only people
Help identify Leitz rangefinder please20 Feb 2006 10:41 GMT3
I'd appreciate any information or pointers about an early Leitz accessory
rangefinder.
It is very similar to a FODIS model, except from the pictures I have seen of
the FODIS it has a different mounting method: on my one there is a wide bar
Minolta X-700 capacitors20 Feb 2006 02:11 GMT3
I bought a broken X-700 camera that doesn't release (but metering works).  I'm hoping its just bad capacitors that I can try replacing, and
is why I bought this camera.
Anybody know exactly what I need?  I see them on Micro-tools.com, but my
university has a great electronics part ...
Ideal small camera carry around kit18 Feb 2006 21:53 GMT39
What's you favorite small camera kit (not P&S) to carry. Something
that would fit maybe in a photo vest and not weigh you down?
My favorite is a Leica IIIf with 35, 50, and 90mm lens with universal
finder. I also use a Manfrotto monopod with medium ballhead with quick

high quality photos on the cheap18 Feb 2006 16:51 GMT8
I am taking photos with a Nikon coolpix 4100 and importing them into
photoshop, my options are now endless (if you know what you are doing)
and with the correct colour management setup I print using an Epson
R220 (six ink catridges) and high quality photo paper.
8 bit vs 16 bit to print labs18 Feb 2006 15:53 GMT4
A photographer friend of mine processes everything in Photoshop in 16 bit
RAW.  When he wants to have a print made he changes the image to an 8 bit
tif.  He says that the reason for dropping to 8 bit is that most photo labs
have 8 bit printers.
Sekonic L-51818 Feb 2006 15:44 GMT1
I have a Sekonic Digipro L-518 X-1 exposure meter that I bought used about a
year ago.  Great little meter, but seems to be a real battery eater even
though I don't use it that much (runs on a single AA, so battery cost is not
