multiple problems on Elan IIe28 Feb 2006 23:46 GMT3
I have owned an ElanIIe for about 8 years. I used it regularly till
about the last 6 months (I mention this b/c somehow I think this might
be relevant information). Yesterday, I wanted to use it and found that
it was not working.
Negative film processing / printing quality28 Feb 2006 21:44 GMT10
I picked up some 120 C-41 (Portra 160NC) the other day with print
proofs.  The prints were pretty poor looking as if they had been printed
to correct under exposure. This at a high end store and lab that caters
to professionals as well as amateurs.
Replies to Portrait lens for the 20D28 Feb 2006 14:11 GMT2
Thanks to those who responded.  How about the Sigma 30 MM F/1.4 or the new
Canon 18-55 F/2.8 IS?  Both are designed for the smaller sensor of the
digitral camera.
Scanned  35mm Provia Film.......Resolution?28 Feb 2006 13:36 GMT2
Took a roll of color slides, Provia  ISO 100  of snow
scenes which turned out beautiful. When I took the
film to be developed also asked to have it scanned
which also turned out beautiful.
Manual photography versus digital28 Feb 2006 08:47 GMT174
I am writing an article on the art of manual photography versus digital
photography. If anyone is interested in contributing, please reply.
What reasons do you use manual cameras rather than digital cameras?
What do you like about manual photography that you wouldn't get from a
Lasik surgery and focusing28 Feb 2006 04:12 GMT8
Sorry if this has been addressed before.  Can anyone share their before /
after experience?
I'm near sighted and have some astigmatisms.  I'm told by my eye Dr that I'm
a very good candidate for Lasik surgery.  Glasses get in the way for me.  I

Secondhand SLRs in London27 Feb 2006 22:37 GMT8
Does anyone know a good shop where they sell secondhand SLRs? I'm
thinking about a reasonably priced Nikon F301 or a Minolta X700, that
kind of thing.
[SI] 'Bokeh' Comments27 Feb 2006 19:05 GMT15
Just a few impressions, hoping to heighten interest a bit.
Don't take anything I say too seriously as I am not a photographic art
critic, nor have I ever played one on television.
I did, however, make a concerted effort not to discuss hardware (except for
Tripod height - advice needed27 Feb 2006 16:45 GMT4
I am choosing a tripod for my EOS 50 and currently my search has
narrowed down to two Velbon Sherpa models: 250 and 450. The main
difference is their height - 250 is 172 cm + 30 cm elevator slide,
while 450 is 154 cm + 30 cm elevator slide. I am not tall myself - 179
Nikon D200: Phil Askey's Full Review posted26 Feb 2006 18:14 GMT3

. . . . you really can't see any significant advantage or disadvantage
going either way (8 to 10 or 10 to 12). You really wouldn't be able to
see a difference in print even at very large sizes.
Tripod cases?26 Feb 2006 16:40 GMT8
I need to travel with a large tripod (Manfrotto 58B).  The cardboard box
has already been on a few trips and won't last much longer.  Are there
any stock tripod cases?
Best would be one with enough room for 1 58B plus 1 or 2 190's.

This is containment #1; a shot of the beginnings of the foundation. The
final foundation was over 10' thick, and consisted of two interwoven layers
