What has good Bokeh31 Jan 2006 22:25 GMT100
Could someone please list those lenses that, have good bokeh?  As far as I
can tell they are limited to: a) a good share of Leica lenses; and, b) some
pentax lenses; and c) very little else.  I'm _not_ intersted in esoteric
lenses such as some lens on an old folder from the ...
Nikkor 200 f/4 micro31 Jan 2006 20:45 GMT8
I'm real tempted by the Nikkor 200 f/4 micro but I have a 70-200 2.8 VR
and I'm wondering if this lens will also be useful for normal range
shooting or it's a wash quality-wise. The 70-200 is really nice, will
the macro be even better sharpness, color & bokeh given it's a prime ...
[SI] mandate: Bokeh31 Jan 2006 17:54 GMT12
Try to make some significant part of the composition out of focus. The
classic portrait technique is to select a very soft blurred background
designed to escape attention but this mandate calls for a bit more focus
to the OOF area.

D.C. area?

I shot this a week ago with a range finder and 400 watt second Ikelite

[SI] Low Light31 Jan 2006 01:11 GMT3
This project taught me an interesting lesson in web color space.
This is the same image I submitted to the shoot-in, but this version was
converted to sRGB in Photoshop.  The one in the Low Light gallery was saved
with Adobe RGB.
Hello from the A1GP Media Centre30 Jan 2006 10:41 GMT19
Day one was wet, day two was blisteringly hot, sunny & humid. Today is
the big day and the weather looks to be a little kinder to all. It's a
bit cooler and partly cloudy right now.
I got here at 6.10am this morning and only expect to leave at around
Film vs. Digital Scorecard30 Jan 2006 10:28 GMT22
Could someone direct me to sites/articles that have accurate information on
film vs. digital in terms of camera and film sales figures, discontinued
products, and projections that have credibility?
Thanks,

A Dynax 7 versus Fuji F11 decision30 Jan 2006 05:31 GMT6
I'm in the process of making a purchase decision and would like to seek
some opinions to take with me.
I already have a film SLR. Lately, I have seen the Dynax 7 (not D)
going on eBay for about $400. It's always been a dream to own that
Oh no not anouther Film Vs digital comparison!30 Jan 2006 01:06 GMT2
I had a thread here before stating that I was going to compare my Fuji
F610 to a Stylus Epic, Still havn't done it. the first pictures from my
first roll was, for some unkown reason, crap and the pictures were not
sharp or pleasant at all, but in all subsiquent rolls I have been
THE RETURN OF THE 20D !!!30 Jan 2006 00:24 GMT2
Great news, sports fans!
Both The Mighty Jewel and the 20D have been repaired and are now back
to 100%.  She, from a torn ACL, and the 20D from a busted battery
cover after a nasty spill last week.
Return to film... True!29 Jan 2006 22:57 GMT68
The romance with digital as a medium for portraiture, weddings and
landscapes is over  (for me at any rate) After three years and perhaps
$25,000 (I never kept count) spent on the pursuit of digital photography...
I now know it is of little value to me. Maybe the occasional ...
I waited too long... (Nikon Scanner ?)29 Jan 2006 22:19 GMT23
I had hoped to get a KM DiMAGE Scan Elite 5400 II, this month, but B&H
lists them as out of stock and the sales rep said his gut feeling was
that they weren't going to see any more, ever.
So... that leaves me with, as I see it, two viable options, both from
Where can I get the Fuji Finepix F11?29 Jan 2006 18:18 GMT2
What is a good shop to buy this camera? It is confirmed it is not being
imported into the USA, so i'll have to buy it from an overseas shop.
Thanks
