Finney pinhole with Nikon body23 Sep 2005 18:22 GMT5
Has anyone successfully used a Finney pinhole body cap (purchased from
Freestyle Camera) on a Nikon F body? I've tried twice now, using 400
ISO film and the results have been awful. There's no clarity at all,
compared with another cheap plastic homemade pinhole camera I've been

What time is it when you have two watches?23 Sep 2005 05:09 GMT11
Some of you may recognize the subject for what it really means.
I just compared the Minolta VF to the Sekonic L-558.
Incident readings:    0.1 EV difference.
Flash incident:        0.3 EV difference.
need recos for a 355m film camera23 Sep 2005 02:23 GMT6
Hi, I am looking to buy a 35mm film camera for my mom, sth she can use
for taking casual pictures, take with her on her trips etc.  I am not
looking for a APS camera or a SLR.  I just need basic features like red
eye reduction, auto focus, date stamp.  I don't want bulky cameras or

Oily Lens Blades22 Sep 2005 03:35 GMT3
Ok, I have seen many ebay ads listing oil free aperture blades as a positive selling point.
I admit I can see where this would be an issue where and when there is automatic
diaphram control as it may slow down the response of the blades. When the lens is an
older pre-set manual lens ...
Question on Yashica Electro 35 GSN Rangefinder22 Sep 2005 03:10 GMT15
I just picked up the above camera and have a question for the group as I'm
pretty confident that there are some vintage camera lovers out there.
Anyway, I bought this camera and it seems to be in great shape.  It even
arrived in its original box along with the warranty card and ...
Nikkor Af 35-105 F3.5/4.5 vs. Af 28-105 F3.5/4.5 Macro21 Sep 2005 21:33 GMT1
Anyone here own either of these lenses, or do you have an opinion?
The 35-105 is a bit smaller in size, and since this is for a second camera
(casual, take anywhere kind of camera), that might be a selling point, but
on the other hand, the 28-105 has the wider focal length and ...

New way to use my F521 Sep 2005 13:14 GMT19
I went to the "Oktoberfest" in a neighboring town yesterday, and discovered
a new way to take clandestine photos with my F5. It has an auxiliary trigger
button on the lower right side that I never use, because I turn the camera
up to vertical mode the old fashioned way, and use ...
[SI] "Photojournalism" has now become visible.21 Sep 2005 06:39 GMT8
...As only the SI'ers know how to do it.
We will, of course, not touch on the idea of whether this is actually
good or not. We will, instead, simply go to http://www.pbase.com/shootin/pj
and exclaim in shock and awe.
Ilford Pearl paper21 Sep 2005 00:25 GMT20
Have a Canon i9900 printer.  When I use Canon's Photo Paper Plus Glossy
everything comes out great.  Am giving Ilford's Pearl photo paper a
try, as I like the matte/glossy combo effect.  The prints come out
terrible, though.  There is no pre-set available for this, so I'm sure
"The appeal of full-frame CMOS sensors, " Canon's PR pages20 Sep 2005 23:20 GMT31
Canon has launched a very interesting web site devoted to
explaining their sensor technology. One series of articles
might cause many controversies:

the hurricane test20 Sep 2005 03:01 GMT19
here is a real world test, the toughest of them all:
let's see if 35mm negatives survived the flooding better than digital.
This includes unprocessed rolls of film, film still inside cameras,
negatives stored in grandpa's basement and uncle Lou's attic, photo
Canadian OEM distribution remain pricing idiots20 Sep 2005 00:51 GMT17
Regardless of OEM (Minolta, Nikon, Canon, Sekonic, et al), the best deal
is still to buy from the US in most cases.
Just brought the Sekonic 558 back from a US trip, and even after duties,
GST and PST I saved quite a bit (haven't calculated it to the dime yet,
