tales of new equipment25 Aug 2005 03:24 GMT10
I've recently aquired some new equipment, though most isn't 35mm related.
For one, I've purchased a Mamiya 6 with 75 and 50mm lenses.  This is an
amazing camera, very robust, not too big (about the size of an F100 with
motor drive).  It's very easy to use, but the meter is easily ...
The Oddity File -- Fuji Eterna 500 Movie Film24 Aug 2005 19:57 GMT10
As mentioned a few weeks ago, I found a place that will still do ECN II
processing.  So I bought a 200' can of Eterna 500 off of eBay, and shot
a test roll in my F100.   Here is a report on my results:

benbo trekker manual/information?24 Aug 2005 19:06 GMT9
I just lucked into a cheap Benbo Trekker Mk1
tripod.
I suspect my imagination is failing me, in the face
of such an unusual piece of kit.
Finally gave in...24 Aug 2005 18:57 GMT62
...and gave up on Canon building an IS version...bought the 24-70 2.8 L.
So...I now have no doubt they'll soon release IS version...
...now that I finally jumped.

Slightly O/T - For sale Magellan GPS24 Aug 2005 15:04 GMT3
Silghtly off-topic for cameras, but for those nature photographers, a GPS
can be very handy.  I'd definately include one in my camera bag, and I have.
Recently got a more upgraded model as a gift, so I'm looking to find this
one a good home.
Should I learn on a 35mm SLR Manual or Digital?24 Aug 2005 14:36 GMT74
Hi and thanks in advance for your help.
With technology moving so fast is there any point/advantage in learning
photography on an old SLR system?
I have an access to an Olympus OM40 Program camera.

breakthough in the aesthetics of photography24 Aug 2005 06:51 GMT24
The usual amateur doesn't spend much time pondering the state of the
photographic "fine art" community, but, as the prices for photographs
continue to escalate more and more, photographers try to catch the wave
with innovative approaches.
Help! Broken Pentax P50!23 Aug 2005 22:23 GMT3
I need some help figuring out what's wrong with my camera.  It's a
Pentax P50, that refuses to turn on.  We tried new batteries to no
avail.  We're wondering if it's worth getting fixed, self-fixable, or
what.
Which film p&s camera to choose!23 Aug 2005 22:14 GMT19
Hey all,
I want a small, film camera, for many reasons:
- to take on holiday (i love having holiday snaps in hand)
- i like having prints
Need a good loupe for 35mm23 Aug 2005 14:42 GMT5
Well my Horizon loupe (8x) just broke. I was poorer when I bought it
and I never really liked it anyway, but it worked so I couldn't bring
myself to replace it. Well now it's gone. I always thought it had lousy
optics which were very fatiguing after only about 5 minutes. I did like
Nikon N8008 film rewind23 Aug 2005 01:30 GMT5
I have a N8008 which leaves a little of the film leader out after film
rewind.  I think it is intentional, as it is great for reloading the
same roll again, but I'm curious how many bodies were like that?
Is it a special feature?  Is it user controllable?  Isnt the norm to
output print22 Aug 2005 22:24 GMT9
i have been a canon proponent for quite some time.  Epsons seem only good
while they don't clog.  Independent reports seem to favour canon out of the
box but epson is better if you spend the money on calibrating your entire
system.  Since i haven't clearly understood adobe colour ...
A little off topic but...22 Aug 2005 21:12 GMT3
...I was hoping maybe someone could help me figure out something:
I inherited some used camera stuff from the mizzes' grandfather a few
months ago.  I sold the stuff I couldn't use (a couple of Minolta MF
lenses, etc).  I still have this one item floating around, and I'm not
