How much benefit would the Canon EF 75-300mm F/4-5.6 IS USM be for Friday night high school football games from the stands? I don't have any IS lenses at all, and wonder if one of these would work well. I can't afford a really fast lens, and tripods and monopods aren't really ...

This may be perceived as a stupid question but I use an on-line photo printing service whose equipment prints at a set 300dpi (I assume this is 300ppi and "dpi" is being used as a generalisation) and my slide scanner is capable of 14bit/4000spi... if I am only looking to have, say, ...

Is there a way to get this camera to meter in manual mode? I had to step down from my Elan as it developed a sticky shutter, and I just moved, so my hand-held lightmeter has vanished. Currently I'm metering in P then moving to M and setting the exposure
