| Visiting San Francisco | 10 Jul 2005 07:19 GMT | 3 |
I'm thinking about visiting the San Francisco area in the fall. I'm thinking of going in October and spending a week in San Francisco and a week somewhere near Mono Lake so I can go to Mono Lake, Bodie ghost town, the Devil's Postpile, and maybe Yosemite (some of it anyway).

George Preddy appears has created a number of Gmail accounts in the name of regular posters here. I presume it is in the lead up to his sock puppet voting for a Sigma account. He has attempted to impersonate me by "inviting" me to sign up with Gmail

| Nikon Coolpix 8700 Never Again | 08 Jul 2005 18:19 GMT | 5 |
I purchased my Nikon 8700 in March and was disappointed from the start. Then in July the camera became Schizophrenic. The operating software has gone completely haywire. The camera does what it wants to do, not what I want it to do. Pretty neat trick for a mere $700.

| Re: A digital film comparison. | 08 Jul 2005 17:18 GMT | 1 |
In the early days of electronic photography (early video days) the praticioners were working with a new technology. They borrowed terminology from both the film and the electronics world. So, for instance, modulation transfer function for imaging equipment

I'm a bit of a newbie here. HAve just purchased a Fuji Film S5500 (digital) camera. A freind recommended I get a polarizing filter to put on the adaptor ring. I was going to do this, but noticed that there are PL and PL-C filters.

There's been much debate in this newsgroup, in previous threads, about frivolous litigation and the McDonald's coffee lawsuit was one case debated (for example, in that thread when Kodak sued Sun and many other threads)

| Dedicated flash cross-over? | 05 Jul 2005 21:19 GMT | 1 |
I have a Minolta Auto 200X "dedicated" flash for the old XG family, which I use with my XG-1. Its dedication goes to the extent that it will set the shutter speed on the camera. There is no TTL/etc., just straight auto.

| Leica Minilux vs. Leica CM | 04 Jul 2005 22:18 GMT | 5 |
anybody knows what are the differences between these 2 cameras? I know of the faster shutter speed, the different lense coating of the CM and the improved viewfinder but what else can justify all that difference in price? The Minilux goes for 300$ less, the CM being 995$.
