[SI] New mandate: SINISTER18 Jul 2005 06:42 GMT4
SINISTER
Take any object or scene and make it appear sinister. The best images
will make the viewer feel a little uneasy, maybe not instantly but
after studying the scene for a few seconds and understanding its
Too drunk or what?16 Jul 2005 22:11 GMT11

Yashica 230AF price estimate16 Jul 2005 11:28 GMT1
I have a Yashica 230AF that has literally been sitting up in my closet
for 20 years. I bought it in 1985 and used it maybe 3 or 4 times. I
also have a Yashica 35-70/3.3-4.5 (macro) lens. They are both in mint
condition. I would like to sell it but am not sure what it would be
Fixing old SLR16 Jul 2005 05:24 GMT2
I have a Minolta XG-1 (as I referred to in an earlier post), and its
light meter is defunct. More accurately, it works great (in Av mode,
which is the only place where it has a light meter) till you take the
picture, and then at the last moment decides a 30 second exposure would
I did the unthinkable15 Jul 2005 23:29 GMT30
I shoot weddings and yesterday, I was going to change rolls on shot #28
(Canon Elan - Fuji NPH), but I opened the back without rewinding first. I
shut it and rewound it, but, of course, the damage is already done.
This is a first for me, so I'm wondering how much damage? Did I ...

PING Tuthill and other Minolta lens owners15 Jul 2005 17:33 GMT3
Bill,
What would be your choice? (and if you care to say, why).

Today's business rumor15 Jul 2005 15:48 GMT12
According to published reports Hewlett Packard might be considering
buying Kodak.
What this would do for the remaining film business is a good question.
I don't see HP wanting to own a huge chemical enterprise. They would
Ethanol solution to clean lenses15 Jul 2005 12:51 GMT7
Hi all, I've red that a 30 % ethanol solution in demineralized water
iworks very well to clean lenses and filters. I'm a little bit warried
on using it, I've some T* Zeiss lenses. Is there the possibility to
damage them?
Konica Minolta Kudos15 Jul 2005 03:29 GMT6
After shopping for my Max 7D and getting the best possible price last
March, you can imagine how dismayed I was when the Canadian rebate offer
came out valid from May 1 ...
But, I tried anyway, along with a letter explaining my long loyalty to
San Francisco paranoid about photographers?15 Jul 2005 02:10 GMT25
On the way into work this morning, I heard a news story about the Bay
Area Rapid Transit system (BART) in San Francisco telling it's
customers that one way to recognize a terrorist or suicide bomber was
that they take pictures of things that normal people wouldn't be
Obstruction in DP-20 (F4) viewfinder15 Jul 2005 01:27 GMT6
The DP-20 viewfinder on my Nikon F4 has always had dust in it, but not
so badly as to obscure the image or any of the indicators. Well, this
morning I looked and all of a sudden there's a big black something that
is obscuring the exposure meter (lower window). It's right on top of

Dust on film14 Jul 2005 19:23 GMT15
How to remove dust from a film stripe put in a holder of a film scanner?
I have big problems with it.
I keep films cut into stripes and very clean in plastic or paper bags. I
tried  many types of clothes, cleaning papers, leather, brush etc.
