[SI] Bowser's Yaks23 Jun 2005 00:47 GMT5
I shot a pic of a couple of Yaks, I think. We don't get many Yaks in
Massachusetts, so I'm not sure.

If they're not Yaks, let me know.
Soviet and Russian camera threads, can someone sum up please?22 Jun 2005 19:03 GMT17
There's been a few threads in this newsgroup about soviet and russian
cameras lately. Can someone who's familiar with russian/soviet cameras
and who followed the threads please sum up; which russian/soviet
cameras are worth buying, if any?
Contact prints from Inkjet Transparences22 Jun 2005 18:29 GMT12
Has any one here done BW contact prints from inkjet transparences and can
you recommend resources, techniques and/or things to avoid?
Thanks for the input,

Subject: DSLRs or Slide Film or Colour Negative Film?    ;o)22 Jun 2005 18:24 GMT5
What's the real difference between slide film and negative film? And,
to logically expand the discussion a little further, are there any
tangible advantages to shooting digital rather than either of the film
types?
Rain-X for badly scratched lens?22 Jun 2005 13:08 GMT11
For $20 off eBay I got a Takumar-A 28-80mm macro zoom... yes, my bad.
The front element has more multiple shallow scratches than the seller
mentioned.  Sharpness is pedestrian until past F/8.
I tried the old photographer's trick to minimize scratches on negatives:

Sky Captain22 Jun 2005 06:00 GMT12
It's my new diversion (Sunday afternoon vegetable state) movie.
Used to be Galaxy Quest.  (But now I just love Polly's
(Gwyneth Paltrow) blonde hair & red lipstick.  But I digress...)
Her camera in the movie, looks like an Argus model.
Kodak ceases production of B&W paper22 Jun 2005 02:12 GMT72
They've been making it for 117 years.  Yikes...
Canon FL 1200mm F11.022 Jun 2005 00:12 GMT45
I'm trying to figure out how much can cost this lens? I have found no
reference on WEB.
Thanks in advance.

Why?21 Jun 2005 14:36 GMT38
Why do you like or dislike this image?  I found it more appealing than I can
quantify.  I found others that I framed as more appealing at the time I took
them much less so when compared and developed.  Is it just me or is there
something primal and appealing about this image?

35mm SLR image compared to a sub 35mm DSLR image21 Jun 2005 10:45 GMT11
How do you compare digital to film? Do you make a negative from a digital
file and then print it or do you scan a negative and compare it to a digital
file?
Sadly there is no way to fairly compare the two other than with final
PC plug to hotshoe thingy / PC plug, any high quality plugs available?21 Jun 2005 06:28 GMT3
Any ideas:
I have one of those things you put in a cold shoe that has a hotshoe on top
and a cable to connect to the camera's PC socket.  It seems rather
unreliable.  I suspect that the plug does not make very good contact.
