35mm or digital SLR?28 May 2005 07:24 GMT65
If you had $1000+ would you buy a digital or film SLR?
Is there any reason(s) to get a film SLR besides price anymore?
Will 35mm SLRs continue to be made, or are they going the way
of 126, 110, APS, etc.
eBay: International Dealing28 May 2005 06:49 GMT11
I would love to start buying items from North American and other sellers
on eBay, but I have a bit of a problem when it comes to finding ways of
sending the sellers money.
We don't have PayPal in SA. We don't have Western Union either. I have

Stuff compatible with Zorki/Fed27 May 2005 21:21 GMT8
I have two Soviet rangefinder cameras, a Fed 1 and a Zorki 4. Can anyone
enlighten me as to which of the 90 and 135mm lenses in 39mm screw from Leitz
will couple with the rangefinder.
Both cameras have had the mount re-shimmed to give the correct 28.8mm
Olympus XA peculiarities27 May 2005 17:30 GMT6
I bought an Olympus XA a while back and have been using it fairly regularly for
several months as a pocketable carry-everywhere camera.  It has two peculiarities
(errr, problems), one of which I noticed fairly soon, the other of which is rather
more subtle.  I'm wondering if these ...
ANNI'S NEW TOY !!!27 May 2005 14:41 GMT4
Today the big brown truck brought me a
Canon 1.4x II Teleconverter.  I was eager
to see how it would function with the 20D
and the 400 f/5.6L.
[SI] BTR Qik Komments27 May 2005 10:37 GMT4
I apologize for these briefer than usual comments.  I'll get back to
full format when the SI mandates get me a little more excited.
Having said that nastiness, there are a few honorable mentions in the
current raft.  No comments respecting adhesion to the mandate, rather
Where to send FM2 body for minor repair?27 May 2005 09:27 GMT3
I just picked my daughter up from college and my trusty old FM2 body she's
been using is missing 2 of the 4 lens mount screws.  The camera works fine
otherwise, so I hesitate to send it in for a full-blown clean, lube adjust.
Any thoughts?

Changed the green to red and added green and blue lights.

I took dozens of these with lights, focus and perspective changes.  Lots
of fun, and many great photos.  Just too lazy to put many of them up.
Viewing Pbase Images26 May 2005 02:23 GMT6
When I view images in Pbase, which seems to be a popular site for
posting one's pictures, I can view in 'small' and 'medium' modes, but I
cannot seem to view in 'original' mode.
I have tried three browsers, i.e. Opera (my default), FireFox, and,
Numerous questions (very long post)26 May 2005 01:22 GMT15
1) Would a digital body with no-name lenses have equal picture quality to a
film camera with better glass?
Since the light has to go through the glass first I would think the better
glass would be the obvious answer except that the images I get with my Canon

Ok, digital finally better than film (very OT)25 May 2005 00:46 GMT13
The BBC's 'Click Online' computery programme last night showed the
results of a 144 megapixel camera. One of the images was a normal wide
shot of a room. They zoomed right in until the picture was filled by
the wood grain on the mantelpiece, absolutely razor sharp as if it were
[SI] "Breaking The Rules" can now be seen!24 May 2005 17:00 GMT5

I was considering breaking the rule of posting time, but judging from
the hits already, people are too anxious for me to get away with that.
