Rear lens element mark ?22 Apr 2005 20:05 GMT6
What is the probability that image quality will be effected by a small

Rebel 2000 and ilk21 Apr 2005 21:52 GMT24
Thinking about picking up a cheap Canon body for a trip where I don't
want the weight and bulk of my A2.
My local photo shop has a factory-rebuilt Rebel 2000 for $99, and i am
tempted, but I saw a comment on some web site that this model does not
Camera in movie Chinatown21 Apr 2005 14:35 GMT2
Saw a bit of that old Jack Nicholson movie the other night and noticed him
using some sort of a rangefinder camera. I couldn't get the name of it.
Does anybody know what it was?

Market for film cameras21 Apr 2005 02:09 GMT11
I've moved onto digital photography, so I'm trying to sell my old film
cameras. I have a Pentax MZ-50 with a 28-80mm sigma zoom lens plus a
few filters. I'm currently selling it on ebay UK (I won't tell you the
listing number so that I can't be accused of spamming!)
Kyocera killing Contax20 Apr 2005 19:55 GMT6
>From dpreview.com:
Kyocera has today announced that it has decided to terminate the Contax
branded camera business. Contax joined forces with Yashica in the
1960s, which became part of the electronics giant Kyocera in the
CRR (Camera Repairs & Restoration) for Leica in England20 Apr 2005 13:52 GMT5
This appears to be the last resort for my Leica M3 with the blacked out
finder. According to their website http://www.angelfire.com/biz/Leica/
they are able to fix the finder by resilvering the prisms and re-cementing
them.
Nikon vs Pentax20 Apr 2005 10:50 GMT1
Which model of Nikon most closely matches the specs of a Pentax *ist?
Thanks

Found this in the google archives.  It was very handy for me just now,

I give up20 Apr 2005 03:47 GMT3
WTF is this constant, stupid bullshit over "LIONEL LAUER".  Can't not
say it anymore.  WTF, who the /f.ck/'s time is /that invaluable/ that
they bother going thru this?  who the hell's /that/ meaningless?
CD/DVD storage - how long will it last?19 Apr 2005 16:55 GMT60
Another question that relates to digital vs. film.
Some time ago I heard of concerns about the life of
music CDs. Deterioration over time? This would be very
upsetting for me and anyone else who has an extensive
Lens diaphragm doesn't open completely (Nikon 50 1.4 AI)19 Apr 2005 14:57 GMT6
I recently acquired a second-hand Nikon 50mm 1.4 manual focus.
The lens behaves strangely: according to my camera light meter, it is
two stops slower than a 50 1.8 lens that I trust (i.e. if I set them
at the same aperture, the light meter suggests an exposure time two
Rodenstock vs Hoya Polarizers19 Apr 2005 04:24 GMT26
Can anybody with actual experience with both of these filters comment (compare?) on them, concerning their quality, performance, longevity etc.
I have a Rodenstock C-Pol for my DigitCam and like the way it works.  It is high quality coated glass, mounted on brass rings and has ...
