Reviews of Elite chrome 20024 Apr 2005 14:45 GMT4
Today I finished the first roll of the EC200 I bought at the closing
down sale but won't get them back until Wednesday. I read some more
reviews of the film and am amazed that a film can have such diverse
opinions about it. Are there more than 1 film called Elite Chrome 200?
Nikon 35mm PC shift lens changes colors24 Apr 2005 08:56 GMT18
In the shifted position the image gets cooler. Is this common with
shift lenses or this particular model, or is there something wrong with
my lens? It's from the 1960s or 1970s 35/2.8 Nippon Kogaku, and I mount
it on an N90s. The N90s manual says not to use this lens, so maybe the
Nikon FG?24 Apr 2005 00:00 GMT3
I had one once, and it drained batteries in days, even though it was off,
and the meter was not engaged. Someone told me the FG had a notorious flex
circuit that easily went bad, causing that problem.  Anyone else able to
verify that?

I still like film. OK. I said it. Let the flame throwers load up with fresh
napalm.
But every time I look into a digicam platform, I lust over the truly fine
professional small and medium format film cameras being literally given away
Comparison of Film and Digital23 Apr 2005 18:42 GMT45
This seems to be a very rational comparison of film and digital photography.
It goes beyond resolution and addresses the issue of the very different
looks obtained from film and digital without emotionally defending one or
the other.
Converting Epson 2100 to B/W printer23 Apr 2005 13:41 GMT6
Has anybody tried to convert an Epson 2100 (2200 in US I think)
printer to a pure B/W printer using only black and gray tone ink?
Which companies makes a solution for that?

Automatic hyperfocus?23 Apr 2005 12:58 GMT21
Considering that all modern film and digital cameras run on embedded
software, why not an automatic hyperfocus function?  Since the camera
knows focal length and aperture, it would be nice to be able to push a
button or call up a custom function to automatically set the focus to
How many pro photogs in the US?23 Apr 2005 09:12 GMT45
I'm curious.  How many pro photogs are there in the US?
Let's set the meaning to be photographers who earn their living through
photography.
As follow up, how many of these are portrait/wedding/studio photogs?
Olympus OM-4 vs Pentax LX23 Apr 2005 08:02 GMT76
Any opinions?
Why is the LX praised as being a modern classic, when it seems technically
inferior to the OM4?

Canon EF mount on non-Canon cameras?23 Apr 2005 03:16 GMT38
Are there any cameras not made by Canon that accept EF mount lenses?
The only ones I'm aware of are a couple of high-end Kodak digital SLRs.
I'm looking for something more along the lines of a simple manual-focus
film SLR.
Contax G2 cable release and film switching questions23 Apr 2005 01:56 GMT2
I bought a cable release for my Contax G2, but it won't trigger the
shutter with the on switch on.  What's the secret?  Is there supposed
to be a battery in the cable release?  Also on the cable release is the
active mode with the red line showing above the button or with the red
Nikon F100 & NiMH batteries22 Apr 2005 22:01 GMT16
I have obtained an F100 during the course of helping a friend sell off
some of his Nikon equipment. Lovely camera, but last night I tried putting
some rechargeable 2100mA NiMH cells in it and unfortunately they don't
seem to be able to run the camera. I have recharged them overight ...
Stay with Olympus, or go Nikon?22 Apr 2005 20:48 GMT14
I have a small investment in Olympus OM kit, namely a couple of bodies,
a few genuine OM lenses, a couple of OM-fit lenses from other
manufacturers and a dedicated flashgun.
My dilemma is as follows. The better of the bodies is in need of an
