Jammed Spotmatic shutter07 Jan 2005 00:06 GMT8
A few new threads on old Spotmatics encouraged me to post this.
After years of faultless use, the shutter on my Spotmatic has jammed.  The
shutter will not trip and the film will not wind on.
I gather this is not uncommon with Spotmatics.
PING: Steve Kramer06 Jan 2005 22:37 GMT17
Just occurred to me that Steve might have been badly affected by the
tsunamis that hit Thailand.
Has anybody been able to make contact with him?

Leica Meter question06 Jan 2005 04:58 GMT4
Has anyone ever had one of these meters rebuilt? I am considering a
reasonable offer to rebuild mine, but am wondering if it is wise.
I just inherited two "new" or genuinely mint Leicas from the widow of my
wife's cousin, who never used them. One has a new Meter MC atop it. The
Minolta Numbering System: Confusing For a Beginner06 Jan 2005 03:34 GMT3
I have doing some research on buying a "consumer" SLR.  I had pretty
much settled on a Minolta Maxxum 5.  However when I look at various
camera shops I often see models referred to a Maxxum 50 QD.  Is this
the same a Maxxum 5?  What confused me more was that also looked at

When I was submitting my vivid shot yesterday, I opened the picture with the
Canon file viewer utility to copy the information about the picture and
include it in the e-mail (I was submitting to SI for the first time and I
didn't know that for a digital image the information is ...
Kiev4 repair problem05 Jan 2005 22:09 GMT3
A friend approached me with a broken Kiev 4 (CONTAX copy).  The
shutter does not cock when you turn the winding knob nor is there
tension when you try and change shutter speeds as on my Kiev 4.  The
cameras winds properly.

[SI] Bowser's Vivid Shot05 Jan 2005 08:31 GMT7
As you can plainly see, it's a shot of hell on Earth; a youth-oriented store
from the mall. However, this shoot was fraught with danger. While at the
Burlington Mall (MA, USA), I was approached by a security guard, who wanted
to know what I was shooting. I explained that I was a ...

I am Larry Yaremko, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and I have just

Pentax Spotmatic - New Lease on Life04 Jan 2005 17:38 GMT3
After a long time in storage basically for lack of the old PX400 mercury
batteries and an unwillingness to go to the short life zinc air replacements, I
found a website (sorry I'm not on a computer that presently has the link) that
recommended the E387S or 387S silver oxide which is ...
