God! DOF Scale in my Lens DOES NOT Agreen with the Hyperfocal Formula!17 Jan 2005 14:49 GMT29
I have a Zeiss Planar 1.4/50.  When I focus on the infinity, the DOF
scale indicates the hyperfocal distance for F16 is about 3.3m.  But
work from the formula, it follows that
h = f^2/(N*c) = 50^2/(16*0.025)

Metering techniques for high key portraiture16 Jan 2005 00:47 GMT16
I'm looking to do some high key portraiture (you know the type where your
subject blends mostly with the background and only the darkest features
are prominent - an example of which would be the cover of Sinead O'
Connor's first album "The Lion and the Cobra") but before I go and

at $1,299.
This is just too lame15 Jan 2005 17:09 GMT24
I don't know who the photographer who took this portrait of Juliette
Binoche is, but I won't be surprised if it turns out to be Rankin, as
I've seen many of his images and they tended to be in this pattern.
Wait, it actually says on the picture, it's Warwick Saint.

A Question About Film vs Digital - NO WARS PLEASE15 Jan 2005 11:30 GMT102
At the risk of starting another flame war, I would like some actual
discussion and advice please.  Here's the situation.
A good friend, who is an amateur photographer with significant latent
talent, has asked my advice in replacing his camera.  His F-70 has bitten
Replacing my Nikon EM/FG15 Jan 2005 04:16 GMT10
My FG has died. Before it, I had two EM's. I'm trying to decide what to
buy as a replacement. I have two EM bodies and an FG body, three cases,
and several lenses for this type of camera. But it seems to me that
these models have been discontinued so long that any used model I buy
Nikon F5 repair15 Jan 2005 00:54 GMT7
I have a Nikon F5 in perfect shape except the rubber piece on the very
bottom (around the tripod mount) is coming loose. Is this rubber piece just
glued on?
Thanks
Looking for a wide angle lens14 Jan 2005 21:22 GMT1
I am looking for a wide angle lens for my 10D. I am considering the Sigma
15-30, the Sigma 12-24, the Tamron 11-18 due out later this year, the Tokina
12-24 due out soon and possibly the Canon 17-40. What I have decided that I
really need is 24-28mm on the wide end and a reasonably ...
