Which Maxxum lenses would you recommend?09 Nov 2004 03:48 GMT6
In anticipation of the new Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D Digi-SLR, I'm
trying to read up on the lenses that are available that will work with
this camera.  I've been shooting film with a SRT101 and a XD11 and
sadly won't be able to use the wonderful lenses I've collected...
Any 35mm cameras with a lcd preview screen?09 Nov 2004 00:05 GMT19
I hope this isn't a dumb question, I don't know alot about cameras.
I'd like to know if they make any inexpensive 'point and shoot' 35mm
film cameras that also have an LCD preview screen on the back, like a
digital camera? My wife prefers a film camera, but likes the LCD

El-cheapo loupe - 50mm lens?08 Nov 2004 21:56 GMT6
I read that lots of people use a 50mm lens as a loupe as a cheaper
alternative to purpose-built loupes. I saw a Minolta 50mm 1.7 AF at KEH
for $33. Although the Rokkor is cheaper at $17 or something but I can
use the AF on my Maxxum 5 as well.
3D Heads - Manfrotto 460 (= 3437) vs 115 (= 3028)?08 Nov 2004 21:45 GMT1
I recently picked up a Bogen/Manfrotto 410/3275 Geared Head. While its
very stable and capable of fine adjustments, the thing is a regular boat
anchor - heavy and too large to be practical for ground-level shooting.
I'm thinking of going with a 3D head as a compromise between a ...

I know this is off topic, but does anyone know the name of
Hungarian-French photogrpaher "Brassai" is pronounced?
Tripods08 Nov 2004 18:14 GMT19
I am looking to buy a new tripod for around ?100. I have looked at Benbo
Trekker and Cullman Magic. Are these good choices or should I consider
something else?
Thanking you all
Leica M Digital release date08 Nov 2004 17:18 GMT2
Has anyone heard anything about the Leica M Digital body release? I know
the Epson and Bessa models will be available soon, but I wouldn't buy
either of them. They would never hold any value once a Digital M is
released. Besides, I was never impressed with any of the Bessa bodies, ...

Nikkor 14mm f2.8D ED08 Nov 2004 07:42 GMT9
I'm looking into getting something really wide-angle, and the
Nikkor 14mm f2.8D ED looks especially appealing to me.
Can somebody with experience with this lens give some
feedback? Is it really as rectilinear as Nikon claims?

Image Stabiliser Lenses08 Nov 2004 05:36 GMT19
I am looking at 70-300mm lenses for a digital SLR (so 35mm equivalent of
105-450mm) and am interested in peoples opinions on whether image stabiliser
lenses are worth the extra money.
I have shot with non image stabiliser 70-300mm lenses (35mm) and never had a
Image stabilization on big glass on a tripod?08 Nov 2004 02:08 GMT4
All I have seen so far indicates that IS is to be used handheld and
turned off when mounted on a tripod. But, if a 600mm f/4 lens is too
big to handhold then how is the IS function used when these big lenses
are mounted on a tripod?
