I'm looking for some recommendations for a flash unit.  I've been through
some websites, but some suggestions from the NG would be appreciated.
Here's what I'd like:

looking for comment on Nikon Speedlights SB-600 vs. SB-80003 Nov 2004 02:28 GMT3
Wanted to buy a flash for my Nikon F80, but have no experience on these TTL
flashlights.
Any good reference for me to study or any user comment on these two
products?  I know 800 is better however budget is one of my concern...
Nikon user to Canon user questions...03 Nov 2004 00:32 GMT11
I have recently decided to purchase a digital SLR, and have settled on
a Canon EOS 20D.
As I am not "moving" to digital (indeed I am still building my
darkroom!) I would like to retain compatibility between a film camera

Just a quick question as to whether anyone knows what batteries the Practica

Nikon lens choice02 Nov 2004 01:41 GMT5
I have a Nikon D100, I shoot a lot of wildlife, and animals in general, in
the wild, at sanctuaries and zoos. I'm looking at a Nikon 80-400VR or Sigma
50-500. I currently have a Sigma 170-500 and Nikon 28-200 but want something
a little longer that's still hand holdable. Forget ...

... or "accidentally digital".
A good fortnight, bargains-wise; picked up a chrome FM3a for ?100 the other
week, and this week found myself a D100 with MB-D100 for ?400 (and 512Mb 80x
CF for ?50). Of course, I have no lenses yet...

Nikon 50mm f1.4- AF vs. AF-D01 Nov 2004 16:20 GMT2
From what I hear, the latest version of this lens has been compomised
slightly in the name of budget- an increase in plastics vs. metals, for
example. Is this true of older versions? Is it possible that pre-D lenses
will be more solid-feeling than post-D? Bear in mind i'm fairly ...
Eclipse01 Nov 2004 07:02 GMT18
I'm planning on taking some pics of the eclipse thats occuring tonight.  I
have a tripod and a pentax k1000 with a 50mm 1:2 lens.  I 've never taken a
photo of the sky at night at all.  I think I will be able to get some
decent pics of it.  I have 800 spd kodak film in my camera ...
Killfiled William Graham and any post About William Graham01 Nov 2004 06:29 GMT6
I set up my blocked sender list and killfile to eliminate any rubbish
related to and sent by William Graham as none of it appears to be camera
related.

Angle Finder for Canon 1D Mark II01 Nov 2004 02:32 GMT4
I've read a good bit about bird photography from Arthur Morris's
excellent Birds as Art web site and one of the things that interested
me was the desirability of getting the camera close to the ground for
a more intimate perspective. But, having tried to do that I find it a
