Beginning amateur SLR - Canon Rebel14 Sep 2004 19:20 GMT16
I am thinking of buying my first SLR camera. I was thinking of starting out
with Canon Rebel Ti with a 28-105mm lens. Any suggestions/comments ?
Any opinions about the new Rebel T2 (this seems to be $50 more expensive
than Ti) ? Is it worth it ?

Bulk Chromes in Canada14 Sep 2004 18:51 GMT3
Anyone know of any Canadian mail order shops that sell Velvia/Provia/Sensia
in 100 feet bulk? I know B&H, Freestyle etc sell them, but I'd like a Canadian
supplier if possible.
  Thanks

Missed Opportunities14 Sep 2004 15:34 GMT17
This Saturday morning I took my youngest down to the Ski Boat Club on the
beach for a birthday party. While we were sitting around a yellow-billed
Kite came down on a thermal about 10m above us and hovered there in the
same spot for at least 15 minutes, only occasionally flapping ...

I've been checking B&H's website for several weeks looking for a Nikon
D70 (body only), but they seem to be permanently out of stock. Anyone
know what the deal is?

How does TTL bracketing work?13 Sep 2004 23:28 GMT11
Hope this question is appropriate for this group.
I know how TTL strobes work. A sensor near the film plane monitors how
much light has been received. When the right amount has been received,
the sensor quenches the strobe, thus ensuring correct exposure.
[SI] My Red Pic13 Sep 2004 22:58 GMT2
My pic is a shot taken while kayaking in Newfoundland, in Bonne Bay. The bay
is semi-cut off from the ocean, and is rumored to house a Loch Ness type
monster. I didn't see it. The bay is deep, though, and reaches nearly 900'
in spots. I didn't test that, either. I just took a few ...
Advice please, which film to use...13 Sep 2004 21:16 GMT4
Haven't been keeping track of my calendar - this coming weekend is our
annual carnival and I am a little unprepared for it. I doubt I'll have a
chance to get out to buy more film before then, so what I have sitting in my
camera bag will have to be it. I want to get some nice ...
Minolta Maxxum 5 or 7013 Sep 2004 16:24 GMT7
Any first hand experiences? A lot of people have pointed out that the
70 has slower shutter speed and flash sync. Maxxum 5 seems to have
gotten good reviews mostly except for some who say that its not easy to
use the camera in the manual mode with a single button for aperture and

Red or Read, they both sound the same to me.
Early on the saturday morning (my time) the posting announcing the mandate
appeared, and I immediately got to thinking of what to post. The thought
occurred to post an archive shot of some old tractors I saw the previous

Hello All...I have copied a bunch of Photography Newsgroups in on this only
because of my limited time and lack of knowledge with not only Newsgroups

Here is my scoop.  I just got married yesterday (thank you) and we are
Newbie question - Correct exposure for Velvia13 Sep 2004 13:36 GMT27
I just shot my first roll of Velvia on my new (secondhand) F80.  I
loved the colours, and the detail, especially on some close up flower
shots.  However, the images were all underexposed.  Very dark in the
shadows with little or no detail.  I was using Aperture Priority
