Feeling old..16 Sep 2004 20:55 GMT25
I was walking around this weekend in lower Manhattan when I spied
a young woman with a Miranda 35mm Camera. I asked her about it
and she said it belonged to to her grandfather!
And I just got rid of one last year...
Scanning glass mount slides16 Sep 2004 15:41 GMT12
Presumably a film scanner cannot cope with a glass mounted slide, especially
the 'anti-newton' types which of course give a noticeable blurring when
projected so would no doubt completely throw a scanner ...?  Any
experiences?
Sekonic L358 or L558?16 Sep 2004 13:36 GMT11
I'm leaning toward buying 2,  X1600 White-Lightning strobes,
triggering them with PocketWizards, and shooting with an F100.  So I
need a meter and it looks like the PocketWizard feature takes me to
Sekonic L358 or L-558.

I have an opportunity to get one for $3600. It's in fair condition -
good optics - but cosmetically poor
In my part of the world (Moscow, Russia) it's kinda hard to find used
fast long glass so I'm prepared to pay a premium... but not get ripped

Bulk loading and modern cameras.15 Sep 2004 23:55 GMT12
I have in the past bulk loaded film cassettes with few problems on my
old ME Super.  However both an MZ-5n and Ricoh GR1v seem to have problems
when I do this, either stopping winding on, not rewinding, or stopping
advancing and not rewinding.

Mike, we may not have seen eye to eye in the past, but as one of the few who
champion Leicaflex in this group I would appreciate your opinion.
What is your opinion of the Leica R6.2 and R7? Given the massive
collectability premium on the R6.2 (and that I am not a collector), would
Low end dSLR vs fim SLR15 Sep 2004 21:31 GMT28
I am planning on a film SLR + a film scanner combo keeping in view my
limited budget. But people are suggesting a dSLR given the costs of
film (possibly slide) development.
So my question is, how does a low-end film SLR, say a Canon 300V or a

Exposing Velvia15 Sep 2004 14:54 GMT5
Any hints?
When using Velvia 50 in a lot of cases I find the sky gets burnt out
but shadows are rather dark so stopping down is not an option.  I am
exposing to try and get decent detail in the sky and shadows.

Konica Centuria Super 400 or Fuji Xtra 40015 Sep 2004 07:43 GMT4
Is Konica Centura Super 400 a good film or is better Fuji Superia xtra
400?
I like Konica Centuria Super 400 in available light and my fast lens
(35/2, 100/2). Is Fuji xtra 400 advanced in quality regarding Konica
