Do I need to have any concerns in using a standard shoe mounted shoe-to-pc converter to trigger a Speedotron Brown Line studio strobe? My main concern is with trigger voltage.

I bought a used VC700 vertical control grip for this camera. It accepts either a 2CR5 lithium or a set of AA batteries. Which types are suitable for the latter: Alkaline, NiCd, NiMH? Which of these performs best? TIA

can somebody help me to choose the correct lights for indoor portraits. I would like something pretty simple and not too expensive, but at the same time professional style. I was thinking about softbox (with flash), diffuser and a reflector. Any advice?
