Is it possible to remove the coating on a lens?27 Sep 2004 16:22 GMT22
I just received a camera I purchased through eBay from a fellow in
Ukraine for about $43.00.  It's a Russian FED-3a.  The camera arrived
in apparent good condition.  It's pretty clean and works fine
mechanically.  But after putting my first roll of film through it, I
Elinchrom pyrex dome problem27 Sep 2004 12:03 GMT3
I bought pyrex domes for my Elinchrom 600s' and they came with no
instruction.  There are three spring things that I attached to the
three screws around the reflector (pointed toward the light of course
so the plastic safety cap would still go on and the dome has that
Quick Release Plate on Camera - Will this Compromise Handheld Shooting?27 Sep 2004 04:44 GMT11
I'm shopping for a new tripod and head and am considering a head with a
quick release. If I'm not mistaken, this means I need to screw a
quick-release plate onto the bottom of my camera. My question is, if I
have this plate on the bottom of my camera, would it be bulky or screw

Nikon 6T filier for macro26 Sep 2004 22:18 GMT1
For macro where I do not get too close, it was suggested to
me that a good combination is the Nikon 6T filter with my
Nikkor 80-200mm f/4 lens.  Any experience or opinions
concerning this?
Why the Nikon F6?26 Sep 2004 15:59 GMT162
I'm not trying to be sarcastic, but why would Nikon manufacture the F6? With
digital technology moving the way it is, is their anyone desirous of
spending the motherlode on a new film based camera? Would it really offer
features that you can't live without, if you are already ...
Minolta Digital Maxxum 7D??26 Sep 2004 15:49 GMT3
Anyone have any pricing information on the new Konica Digital Maxxum coming
out. I've seen the info on their website. It has plenty of technical info
but no pricing. Any info on that?

vignetting with polarizing filter26 Sep 2004 15:09 GMT3
I own a Canon Elan II with a 28-80mm lens. I was thinking of using a
Tiffen 58CP circular polarizer filter (58 mm as well) with no other
filter mounted. Anyone using THIS combination has experienced
vignetting at wide angle and if yes, how bad is it?
longevity of Elite chrome vs Fujichrome slides26 Sep 2004 15:06 GMT1
Now that I can no longer get Kodachrome is Elite chrome or Fujichrome
the next best for longevity?
Thanks
Mike
what's up with Nikon?26 Sep 2004 07:03 GMT61
Canon announces their new products a month, or two at the most, before they
appear in the market. Nikon's doing the FUD more than half a year away, like
the D70 and now the D2X.

[SI] Happy Birthday Shoot-In!25 Sep 2004 23:30 GMT3
Despite everyone's vocal concerns (or fondest hopes, whatever), I am
not dead, and only slightly late with the new mandate, which in this case,
marks the one year anniversary of the Shoot-In. Those who have participated
at any time in the past should congratulate themselves, ...
Choosing aperture and shutter, which first?25 Sep 2004 17:27 GMT7
Hi there, I was wondering how do people "usually" set those parameters
in their cameras to get the desired exposure.
I mean, with the camera in full manual mode, do you first choose the
f-stop (looking for depth of field) and then you adjust shutter time
35mm film holder25 Sep 2004 15:14 GMT6
Does anyone here know who makes the grey plastic boxes for storing up to
6 35mm film cartidges/rolls? They are made so that the top flips back,
giving easy access to the films inside. I think they are made from a
hard non-fragile grey plstic compund, protecting the films from ...
Oil on blades...a question25 Sep 2004 14:54 GMT2
I just received a cosmetically and optically mint AF Nikkor 50mm 1.4 lens.
On close inspection, there appear to be some marks on the diaphragm blades
when looking through the front of the lens. I see none through the back.
The marks don't appear oily or damp. Are they possibly oil? ...
