Very Low Temperature Photography29 Sep 2004 02:09 GMT20
I was doing a little more pondering about the thread about photography using
telescopes. As most of us know, proper astronomical CCD's are chilled with
liquid nitrogen to reduce the amount of noise when taking long exposure
shots. Also, most of us know that film keeps better if ...
Film is dead!28 Sep 2004 22:41 GMT22
Wow with that 16mp 1Ds pretty much puts the last nail in the coffin, looks
like film is dead well except for Nikon users, the F6 is now out.
Scratches on slides28 Sep 2004 22:40 GMT5
I got back my 2nd batch of slides I've ever used and I'm certainly happy
with the quality of slides in general. However on about 50 percent of the
slides (on two different films) there is a thin reddish vertical line (I'm
assuming its a scratch), I can only really see these ...

Well, just in case anyone thinks the National Geographic is perfect, there's
a full page photograph on page 112 of this month's issue that is printed
backwards.

Use or throw away expired Tmax?28 Sep 2004 15:32 GMT7
I have some Tmax 400 that expired in February of 2004.  Should I throw it
away or is it still usable?  If I do use it how will it differ from fresh
film?
Canonet GIII 1728 Sep 2004 15:11 GMT25
I just purchased a Canonet GIII 17   camera from cameraquest.com .     It
has a quiet leaf shutter, and a F/1.7 lens.  It has been modifed to accept
alkaline batteries.
Does anyone know where I can find a manual for this camera?      Has anyone
bulk loader and films28 Sep 2004 13:25 GMT4
In this digital world.
Some suggestions!! I want ot switch to a bulk loading but i fell like
not comfortable with weakest ring of the chain: the cassette film.
Or there are other reason to not have a bulk loadig for 35mm films?
Minolta Maxxum 7 lens recommendation28 Sep 2004 12:33 GMT7
I was looking for a Maxxum 7 50mm lens and would like opinions on the
best choices  out there. I assume there F1.7 is fair because it is so
cheap at $30-45 on Ebay  The F1.4 is around $100-150 on Ebay
Are any of the aftermarket lenses worth recommending ? Vivitar,
Prinzflex SuperTTL -- which battery?27 Sep 2004 20:55 GMT4
I'm wondering whether anyone here can help where Google has failed?
I'm about to give a friend a very old camera that I've had sitting
unused in the garage for the last 15years (and which was fairly old at
the time that it went into storage) -- a Prinzflex SuperTTL; my guess
Bulk-loaded film: frame numbering27 Sep 2004 19:43 GMT3
I just got back a roll of Provia 100 that was given to me by the dude who
sold me the Nikon F4s. The film results are excellent, but I noticed
something odd: the frame numbers are all out of synch.
My frames begin at #27 and increase up until about #43, whereafter they
Battery Pattern for Vivitar 28327 Sep 2004 19:09 GMT4
I got two Vivitar 283s at a yard sale of a former newspaper photographer
(he's won a Pulitzer prize) I only paid $6 for BOTH of them. He says they
both work.
Thing is, they're missing the battery cases so I'm trying to figure out the
Superwide point and shoot?  Are they out there?27 Sep 2004 18:38 GMT9
I have never found a pocketable point and shoot camera with a very
wide-angle lens.  So I have to lug around an SLR if I need, say, the
field of view of a 20mm.
Is there a truly compact P&S camera on the market with something as

I Crucified A Toad...27 Sep 2004 17:52 GMT3
I baptized a toad as Tony Spadaro (with Rodinal mixed withh Holy Water
of course) and crucified it. I put a Nikon F2 name badge over its
head. I doubt it will have any effect, but I feel a lot better, and so
should all the other people who have to put up with his blather.
