Soligor 28mm f2.8 macro - any experiences?13 Aug 2004 09:58 GMT4
I wandered into a local shop - a guy that repairs old shoes, I was
hoping for some shots for the SI - and he had a Pentax A3 and a couple
of lenses for sale, including the 28mm I've mentioned above.  He's
asking for $50 (Australian) for it.  Is it worth it?  It seems in good
Stiff-Focusing Canon Zoom Lens FD12 Aug 2004 23:06 GMT1
Hi, all.
Just got a Canon Zoom Lens FD 70-210mm 1:4 lens, one of the newer style
"twist-on" breech lock mounts. It was advertised as not focussing properly,
which I assumed meant one of the lens elements was out of place or something

[SI] "Old Stuff" mandate11 Aug 2004 14:47 GMT7
This one is turning out to be much more difficult than I first thought.
Now if the mandate had been "Young Stuff" ... well, I got that one covered!
They say change is inevitable10 Aug 2004 17:06 GMT3
Those of you who follow my posts may have seen this coming, but I think I
have known it in my heart for a long time.
I am going back to using Nikon as my primary equipment and by the end of
this month I will add a D70 to my current crop of Nikon bodies and lenses.
LCD vs CRT Monitor10 Aug 2004 16:37 GMT8
I will be getting a new monitor soon and I have read that CRT monitors
are better for graphics. As I will be using it much of the time for
viewing/processing scanned slides and negs I would like to know how
big the difference is. I will not be using it for games so it is
Henri Cartier-Bresson style?10 Aug 2004 08:34 GMT2
From the few of his shots I have seen, I have a feeling he goes for high
contrast, smaller aperture (f8 or smaller), ASA50 and 400 film and 35mm and
50mm equally than often said predominately 50mm.
What do you think? What can you drive form his shots?

Recommended Bodies for Macro work?08 Aug 2004 16:37 GMT4
My Praktica BX20 has bust and I need a camera with spot metering and DoF
preview for getting into Macro photography.  I'm currently looking at
getting an F801s off of Ebay but I would much prefer a Pentax if there
are any suitable. I really only want to spend $150 and less on a
Ricoh GR1 experts: please advise!06 Aug 2004 12:40 GMT1
I recently bought a used Ricoh GR1v camera on ebay. I need your help in
tweaking it a little:
1. The camera comes with a lens hood. Do you leave yours on all the
time, off all the time, or do you carry it around separately?
[SI] - Colin D's In-Out shot05 Aug 2004 20:12 GMT1
Well, apologies for being somewhat late with this entry, but I have two
good (?) excuses - my family celebrated my 70th birthday over the
weekend, and when I did send a shot in, it fell down the bit-bucket
black hole somewhere, so Al kindly offered me to send it again.
Select the right camera02 Aug 2004 11:06 GMT3
I would like to become a professional photographer. On September I
will follow some classes and I am reading a good manual at the moment.
Could you suggest me a good camera to start with with the budget of
$350-$500. Is better a new one with limited features, or a second hand
