| Nikon 70-300 vs Tamron 28-300 | 30 Aug 2004 04:52 GMT | 13 |
I have the Nikon 70-300/4-5.6 ED and it is terrible at 300mm/5.6. So I'm considering replacing two Nikon zooms for the Tamron XR. I guess it's now called the Tamron AF28-300mm/3.5-6.3 XR DI LD Aspherical IF MACRO lens. The magazines (especially PopPhoto) and other testers say

| "PC sync socket" for flash | 30 Aug 2004 00:52 GMT | 2 |
Just bought a Voigtlander (Voigtländer) Vitomatic I rangefinder, originally sold in the very late 1950s and very early 1960s. Several websites say it has a pc sync socket for flash. A Google search on "pc sync socket" did not readily reveal whether that term is a

| Scanning 110 format film? | 30 Aug 2004 00:47 GMT | 3 |
Anyone have any idea of how to scan this film without cutting the individual frames and mounting in glass slides? The images may not be the greatest and I know I'll be limited in print sizes but this is mostly to archive the images...personal memories.

| Voightlander shutter speed question | 30 Aug 2004 00:22 GMT | 1 |
The Voigtlander (Voigtländer) Vitomatic I camera I just bought has a shutter speed scale that goes from 1/300s of a second to 1 second to B to, ostensibly (as far as I can figure), a range in full seconds from 4 to 60 minutes, the latter in green. However, I can't move the

| Canon Elan 7NE vs. EOS 3 | 30 Aug 2004 00:11 GMT | 11 |
Are there great advantages of the EOS 3? Used EOS 3 prices on EBay are not that much more than a new 7NE. Of course technology marches on, so perhaps one has an advantage.

I'm looking for a macro lens (EF) to fit a Canon Rebel. I went to Ebay and I could not find any dedicated lenses to take my close ups. I am a Dental Hygiene student and I will be required to take pictures of people's teeth. There are lenses that will go 28-110mm however I am

| Advice Canon EF 100-400 or Sigma 100-300 with extender | 29 Aug 2004 17:42 GMT | 12 |
I use a canon 10D and would like a telezoom lens for nature photography both for use on a tripod but especially to carry around on hiking trips where weight is a factor. After many deliberations I have limited my choices to either the Canon EF 100-400/f.4.5-5.6 L USM IS or the ...

| Tripod and Head Suggestions for Macro | 29 Aug 2004 15:59 GMT | 3 |
I have been using my Tokina ATX 28-70 F2.8 under extension quite a bit with a Canon eos Elan 7e . I am using the Bogen/Manfrotto 3419 Positioning plate with the camera on a bogen 3265 head. I'm pretty happy with the positioning plate and even if I wasn't I don't see much ...

| If a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it then did it really happen? | 29 Aug 2004 08:50 GMT | 3 |
Recently I was sitting in the back seat of a car driving at very high speed on a test circuit. I was photographing the event for a magazine, the driver, the speedometer showing top speed, the passenger in the front seat, lots of blur etc. The car was travelling at a steady 240kph ...

| yellow filter for digital B&W | 28 Aug 2004 11:11 GMT | 1 |
I want to shoot B&W film and scan the negatives. When _printing_ the negatives the use of filters (yellow - orange - red) is advised while shooting, is there any point in using a yellow filter when I only want to scan the film and do corrections in Photoshop?
