[SI] Golldangit!13 Jul 2004 18:21 GMT8
This "Hidden in Plain Sight" has me all bugaboo!  I've been looking all
week for obvious, cool things to shoot, but when I see something I don't
have my camera.  When I do have my camera, I don't see anything.
I do have a nice archived shot of some water drops on cut-leaf maple

Alan Browne - interesting picture. At first sight I thought she was a
lady sat drinking; I must admit it I failed then to appreciate it. But
Lens Ratios13 Jul 2004 09:08 GMT4
I'm new to this photography stuff, what does the ratio on a lens indicate?
I have a 1:2 lens (50 mm), and I have heard that a 1:2.8 is something of a
beginer's standard.  Is it refering to the 'speed' of the lens; its ability
to allow light to pass thru, or is it a measure of ...
Reflectivity of film for TTL flash measurement?12 Jul 2004 22:17 GMT2
Does anyone know what the 'standard' assumed film reflectance is by the
camera companies for TTL flash?
I have measured the reflectance of a handful of films and they measure
anything from 0.55 to 0.78 log density.

Can anyone give me a quick rundown on the NIKON AL mount cameras?  Is
that the standard mount now or what?

Thanks,

Digital photo management and storage question12 Jul 2004 15:37 GMT12
I have lots of negatives (several thousand) and scanner and I'm also
considering an SLR digital. I have the following questions to the
group:
- What's the best way to manage digital photos in terms of PC setup
Difference between TC-14E and TC-14E II12 Jul 2004 11:51 GMT4
Nikon's blurb about these both converters is very brief
and the descriptions at Adorama's and B&H pages are even
more confusing.
Can someone shed more light into this mystery: What is
Really Large Prints12 Jul 2004 03:55 GMT4
Where do you go to get really large prints done from a scanned film file?
Bigger than 20 x 30 (which Ophoto offers).

spiratone 500 mm mirror lens12 Jul 2004 01:04 GMT1
Anyone fimiliar with the Spiratone line of Mirror Lenses? It seem that they
sold several different lens under their name at different times. I have a
Spiratone 500 mm "minitel - m (F8) taking a 72 mm filter size.  All of the
other lenses sold by Spiratone seemed to have a 77mm ...
best compact 35mm regardless of cost11 Jul 2004 23:27 GMT4
I don't care if it's a leica or a contax, or anything more expensive.
I want the best compact 35mm in terms of image quality (regardless of
any other considerations).
Which one do you think is *the best* in terms of image quality?
Advanced Photo System (APS) is a SCAM?11 Jul 2004 19:31 GMT17
I just wanted to know what all you 35mm folks think about
the APS system.
It seems like a scam to me, because the so-called landscape
option (and the other option) is really nothing more than
