Canon EF long lens rental Florida US25 Jun 2004 12:23 GMT8
I'd like to rent a Canon EF long lens to photograph birds at Ding
Darling National Wildlife Refuge, Sanibel Island, Florida, USA (300mm,
400mm, 500mm, or 600mm). I prefer to pick up the lens in Florida
instead of shipping it, as rental fees accumulate during the shipping
Nikon F2A VF question25 Jun 2004 10:41 GMT7
Hi All. I've got an unusual problem. Just picked up an F2 with the DP-11
finder (F2A) and I can't see the exposure info or shutter speed indicator
inside the viewfinder. I can see the ADR but that's it. I compared this
finder to another DP-11 that I have and I can see the info ...

Do you only use manual metering?24 Jun 2004 22:18 GMT143
I'm about to purchase an SLR and i'm gravitating towards the
manual-only ones as I find manual photography more fun than where the
camera chooses aperture and shutter speed.
I noticed though that some SLRs have fancy automatic metering options,
Doggie style24 Jun 2004 19:51 GMT10
I'm buying a couple of dogs in the upcoming weeks - a Rottweiler and a
Staffordshire Terrier (or Foxy). The Rottweiler is to guard my house -
some asswipe recently stole the pump for my pool in broad daylight (can
you believe that?) - and the Staffie's job is to wake the Rottie up ...
[SI] Local culture - Alan's shot24 Jun 2004 15:49 GMT9
The timing for this mandate was a bad fit ... winter is one of
the better times for local culture, esp. the sugaring camp
season; further, La Fete St-Jean Baptiste, is this Thur (24) and
that is also culturaly important here in Quebec.
Who makes a good reliable ball-and-socket head?24 Jun 2004 15:38 GMT19
I'm looking for a ball-and-socket head to replace my trusty old Leitz head,
which just came apart in my hand.
Actually the base of the head was attached to a copy stand, and the platform
was attached to my camera... which just happened to be safely supported by
81A or 81B filter?24 Jun 2004 12:51 GMT17
I intend to buy a filter 81A or 81B for my SLR. I want to remove a slight
bluish tint when I take pictures in a shade or on a overcast day. Which one
of the two is more useful for that purpose- what would you recommend? Would
it eliminate also that bluish tint on the snow, if I take ...
Leica 10MP Digital Back for R8, R924 Jun 2004 07:31 GMT4
Some UK Leica dealers are now taking pre-orders for this item for
delivery Q4/2004.  The 10MP digital back has been developed with Kodak
and integrates with the Leica R8/R9 35mm SLR camera body to form a
fully convertible film/digital SLR.

new cameras23 Jun 2004 18:11 GMT4
What new cameras are coming out soon? Am I going to be able to buy a
Canon EOS D3000 and take pro photos just like in National
Geomagraphic? I heard they all all Canon digital camera bodies from a
friend. Why do people use film anymore anyway?
Insane new TSA rule for film inspection23 Jun 2004 05:18 GMT94
Well, here ya go, people -- our tax dollars at work.
Last week I flew to Chicago from Seattle to photograph the Chicago
Blues Festival. I do a lot of that, flying around the country to shoot
music events. When I shoot Jazz Fest in New Orleans I always take at
