SLR Camera Questions28 Jun 2004 04:00 GMT13
I am new to the SLR world, I have been researching for some time now
and I am almost ready to purchase one.  The problem is I can't choose
between two cameras.  The Canon Rebel Ti and the Minolta Maxxum 70,
what opinions do you have with these cameras? Also some company's are
Just got my 10D - initial thoughts28 Jun 2004 03:55 GMT16
Thanks all for your inputs on whether or not to get a 10D so close to
Photokina (where a Mk 2 might be released).
In the end, I needed a DSLR now, and the decision sort of made itself.
I picked up a 10D, a 1GB CF card (another 1 on the way) and a
velvia 100F [question]28 Jun 2004 03:47 GMT6
Does anyone use Velvia 100F with a different ISO setting than the one given
by the producer ? Some people use Sensia 100 with a 125 ISO setting claiming
it is the proper one as the curve shows; similarily some use 125 or even 160
ISO setting for Provia 100 F.
Vivitar Series One macro27 Jun 2004 20:27 GMT2
My step father gave me his old Canon A1 with a vivitar Series 1 70-210. It
seems that the zoom has  macro capabilities, but unfortunately I am not able
to use it. I would appreciate any hints about this function. You can
understand that I dont want to spend $15 just for that matter.

Finest grained 35mm film?27 Jun 2004 05:38 GMT34
I have a couple of rolls of Kodachrome 25 stashed away for a special trip
in the future, but I am looking for something to really show off the
quality of film enlargements without going to a larger format.  There is
some Provia and Pan-F Plus in the fridge as well, but I have not ...
Nikon D100 vs. Fuji Velvia26 Jun 2004 22:06 GMT33
Another useless debate, one might say. I don't know. The starting point of
this article should be this test performed by Borut Furlan, a photographer
from Slovenia. He has received many awards for his underwater photography
and (at least in this article) still insists on film. Well, ...
Ultimate Stocked Canon Camera Bag (Lens Selection) - LIMIT 6-7 lenses please!26 Jun 2004 13:12 GMT9
Hello, I'm new to this group.  What would be THE ultimate lens selection a
Canon?
I lean a bit to the nature/wildlife side of photography, but would like to
build an all around selection of decent glass.

Vivitar Series 1 lenses and one with sticky aperature26 Jun 2004 00:49 GMT4
I just got a lens off Ebay. Yes it seems this is another winner sale here.
Anyway the lens is a 28-90 Vivitar Series 1 F2.8 and the aperature is
sticking. Sometimes it will close down, sometimes not. When it goes from
close to open it has a slow comeback almost as if its spring ...

Waterproof camera for $50 for River Rafting?25 Jun 2004 18:13 GMT5
What is a good used/new $50 waterproof camera?
I will be going river rafting in July with a group and want to get a
camera that can survive being dropped in the water and/or being shot
at by an oversized water canon.

Bell Creek and Calabasas Creek feed into the head waters of the larger Los
Angeles River. Concrete rivers all.  The L.A. river, famous over time as
settings for movies is home to a series of unique ecosystems.
