| What makes a photo subject interesting? | 07 Jun 2004 05:09 GMT | 41 |
A couple of days ago there was this young girl I had not seen for a while who goes to this expensive art school in NYC, you know, those art schools that cost $30-40K per year. Well, I just happened to have started taking snapshots last week and therefore it came in the

Just got back from the Florida Trip, lots of fun stuff to see. Thanks Al. CAUTION! May or may not contain ART in a photographic format! http://www.lookbefore.wading-in.net/lookbefore/FL2004/FL2004.htm Jim Kramer

| Digital Med Format | 07 Jun 2004 02:25 GMT | 7 |
Why don't the D-SLR makers (Nikon and Canon) make an option for a picture that is 5x5 (or other size) option in the camera? It's all in the camera nowa days...

| Pentax dSLR under a Grand! | 06 Jun 2004 23:27 GMT | 2 |
According to this Pentax is going to have a sub-1000 dollar SLR in the near future. This will put three of the big four in the sub-1000 camp and I suspect Minolta will have to come up with one too if they want to stay in the market.

| Pre-ordering from B&H | 06 Jun 2004 22:29 GMT | 28 |
I'd like to pre-order an expensive item from B&H but I'm also on wait lists for this at two other places, where they might get it in stock sooner. The pre-order info from B&H says "Your card will be charged upon placing the order" ... this is what has me worried since I might get ...

| Nikon F70. | 06 Jun 2004 17:44 GMT | 1 |
I've just had a second failure of a Nikon F70 in 2.5 years. Symptoms are mirror locks in the up position. Err is shown on the LCD display and then powers off. I've changed batteries but no doing - mirror is still locked up.

| Ditching Digital for film | 06 Jun 2004 14:53 GMT | 47 |
I bought a 10D Canon last year to help me in my quest for world supremacy of wildlife photography. I know now that while it has provided me with some really good photos... It has given me a great deal of grief too. Maybe I just expected too much.

| Battery Replacement for Canonet (mercury battery) | 06 Jun 2004 14:44 GMT | 2 |
My canonet is using a 625PX mercury battery and I was wondering if anyone has tried using a zinc air battery instead. If I try it should I look for one called 625PX too? Are they hard to find? Does anyone have any experience with them?

| Metz 45CT1 flash safety | 06 Jun 2004 10:52 GMT | 1 |
Does anyone know if it's safe to use an old Metz 45-CT1 on modern electronic cameras? I'd like to use it with my Canon EOS-1V but I don't want to fry the electronics. I hear the trigger voltage for this flash is very high.

| Zooming Lens Prices | 06 Jun 2004 10:03 GMT | 15 |
I'm thinking about getting back into 35mm photography after a 30+ year absence-- and am amazed at how much lens prices have gone up relative to the cost of camera bodies. I recall that that a good lens used to be priced around a third or a half of

| Need rec for ultra-low tripod | 06 Jun 2004 05:53 GMT | 7 |
I've been using a Gitzo 320 performance with Arca B1 ballhead for eons. However, even with the short center column, it's still a pain to get really low to the ground. Short of trying a beanbag, is there a newer combo that will do away with the center tube? The new carbon fiber ...

| Bob Hickey | 06 Jun 2004 02:43 GMT | 6 |
OT: I put a few shots on Pbase; the question is; how do I put a link to my sig? I could call tech support, but they drive me nuts. All I want to do is make: www.pbase.com/bobhickey/galleries, turn blue in my sig. Thanx, Bob Hickey

| Should i be worrying about copyright online? | 05 Jun 2004 20:33 GMT | 9 |
Okay, assuming, just assuming, but maybe it could remotely happen, that i went out tomorrow and, by a freak chance, took this wonderful photograph of something... pure luck, no skill on my part... (just being modest here)... then posted it to some photocritique site.

| Using a Canon 50mm Macro with Rebel XS | 05 Jun 2004 19:54 GMT | 3 |
I am a dental hygiene student who is going to have to take pictures of people's teeth next semester. Looking for lo-cost solution. I plan on a Rebel XS body with 50mm f2.5 EF Macro lens. In your expert opinion, do you think this combination will work well? Any other lo-cost
