Looking for a monopod - what kind of head do I choose ?12 Jun 2004 08:53 GMT8
Oops, I did it again ... sorry for cross-posting, but I 'm looking for a
monopod to use with both my Nikon and Hasselblad equipment, so it might be
approprioate, no ?
As far as choosing a monopod is concerned, I guess my choice will mostly be
90mm or 100mm lens?  (Leica question) and/or do you like one over the other and why?12 Jun 2004 06:13 GMT67
90mm f/2 APO-SUMMICRON-R ASPH or 100mm f/2.8 APO-MACRO-ELMARIT-R?
According to http://www.wildlightphoto.com/leica/main.html both are
really great. However with all of the reading I've been doing, it seems
that most if not all of the newest and/or updated versions surpass the
why do you guys still use film?12 Jun 2004 06:05 GMT110
No this isn't trolling, i'm truly curious.
The reason i ask is because i'm wondering why people still use film,
eventhough digital is so convenient and recent cameras from nikon and
canon are apparently quite good.
vignetting plagues the olympus mju-ii (stylus epic)12 Jun 2004 05:54 GMT26
I guess this camera is legendary for having great optics for a compact
p&s 35mm. But I have one and i shot a film with it and didn't really
like the results much for one main reason, vignetting. It's quite
significant with the mju-ii. It's horrid. If you don't believe me look
My next camera will be a manual one!  But which one?12 Jun 2004 05:09 GMT17
I need a second SLR and have decided to get a manual one instead.  My
reason is this: if I were to have a second home, it probably won't be
as good as my first.  So why should my second camera be as good as my
first?
Pentax-A Lens Question12 Jun 2004 02:44 GMT8
 I have a chance to buy a Pentax-A f1.7 50mm lens at a reasonable price.
Since I've only owned 'M' and 'FA' lenses I'm concerned that this lens may
be defective.  The aperture ring can not be turned down past f8 without
depressing the aperture ring lock button and once it is ...
slide film projector12 Jun 2004 00:58 GMT9
I was wondering whether I could elicit some opinions on 35mm slide
projectors?
Basically, I'd appreciate some guidelines on what make/model to
purchase. It's for home use and I suspect I'll purchase a standard size
[SI] An idea11 Jun 2004 23:49 GMT13
I have an idea for the shoot-in - tell me what you think:
I think that it'd be interesting to have an "exif sheet" for pictures
submitted.  The info included would be whatever the artist would like to
share.
Best 28-200mm Lens11 Jun 2004 23:29 GMT38
I'm looking for a bit of advise here: I'm interested in buying a 28-200mm
lens for travelling with. I've got 3 real choices:
Sigma 28-200mm F3.5-5.6 Compact  Aspherical Hyperzoom Macro
Sigma 28-200mm F3.5-5.6 DL Aspherical Hyperzoom Macro (about to be
ANNI GETS LUMINOUS !!!11 Jun 2004 22:48 GMT19
Well sports fans, today was my lucky day!
First off, I received Issue #10 of The Luminous Landscape Video Journal on DVD
today.  For those of you living in a cave, this is Michael Reichmann's
excellent video production covering all aspects of photography.  You can read
Is it possible to get a 'sharp' picture edge to edge?11 Jun 2004 19:30 GMT12
I've just completed a black and white workshop, and have mixed results.
The 8x10s printed by me are ok, but not the 'tack sharp' I'm used to on the
color 4x6s I get from the good lab.  Now, before you start chortling, I know
printing the same amount of information on a bigger ...
Should I buy a fujifilm silvi f2.8 black?11 Jun 2004 18:26 GMT1
These are more pictures said to be taken with the silvi f2.8 (if my
understanding of japanese is correct)

Flash - maximum sync speed11 Jun 2004 15:12 GMT6
I'm using an Elan 7 with a 420ex flash.  However, they are connected with pc
cables - a hotshoe to pc on the cam, and a pc to hotshoe on the flash.
Since I'm effectively bypassing all "automation" - no ttl or e-ttl - and the
flash is firing at full power, does the Elan 7's max sync ...
Rolleiflex SL35: Mirror doesn't go down after shot11 Jun 2004 10:56 GMT3
I've got a problem with my Rolleiflex SL35: It has happened (not often, but it
has), that the mirror doesn't go down again after taking a shot (the shutter
worked as it should). It's just as if I've put it in mirror lockup mode, only
the camera doesn't have mirror lockup. Advancing ...
Pentax 20mm f2.8  SMC A11 Jun 2004 06:38 GMT1
Anyone have experiences with this lens? I've just purchased one for
a relatively modest price...it's in nice shape. No wear, both caps
and case.
Any clearance conflicts with earlier K mount bodies?
