Slides or Prints for scanning ?10 Jan 2004 14:52 GMT6
Which is the best way to go for scanning, slides or negatives?
I usually shoot slides but for this project I'd be interested
in using negatives for the better latitude, I'm shooting
in low light with long exposure times.
Why Did You First Get Into Photography?10 Jan 2004 11:46 GMT59
Was it because you were the "artistic" type, that wanted to exploit the
photographic medium to produce enduring works of art.
Was it because you became interested in the equipment--the range of lenses,
the mechanics of the camera bodies?

Greetings all..
Any one with a hands-on experience with either of the quoted two
lenses? I'm interested to know whether the L zoom is as sharp/sharper?
than the 28mm prime.

2.8. Lens10 Jan 2004 07:56 GMT28
Hi Group
I am thinking of buying a 2.8 lens fro my Nikon f60. A 28-80 or 28-75.
Sigma, Tokina and Tamron all do a lens that seems to fit my needs but is
there any difference between them. I am leaning toward the Tamron but only
Life span of negative projected as slide10 Jan 2004 05:29 GMT23
How long can I expect a color negative (cheap Fuji) to last in a slide
projector?  Say viewing for 5-8 seconds at a time.  Most of these pictures
are not worth printing, but I might want to make a print from a couple of
these at some point, and don't want to ruin them.
Nikon N70 body and AIS manual lens10 Jan 2004 03:05 GMT7
I have two nikon AF-D primes (24mm and 50mm) and a cheap zoom that I
use on my Nikon N60.
During my recent post on nikon telephoto lens, I have received many
good suggestions/comments and I am very thankful to you for your
Easy film survey :)10 Jan 2004 02:12 GMT38
Only one simple question:
Which do you get the most consistant lab performance from (i.e. the lab
returns what you expected) printed CN film or mounted slide film?

Well film fans, the last roll of T-Max 400 has been taken from the drawer and
run through the fabulous EOS-1V.
Here's a few samples:

Group dynamics09 Jan 2004 23:29 GMT122
Geez, folks...too many film against digital threads are making this group
crazy. Can't we go back to the good old days where real arguments took the
form of whether Nikon really is better than Canon?
IMO all Nikons built up to and including the Nikon F70 are better than
Flash metering tricks/techniques?09 Jan 2004 20:36 GMT2
I have recently purchased a Canon 420ex speedlite to use with my Elan 7.
I've managed to get pretty good prints at times and some pretty over-exposed
ones at other times.  It's the same old story for the over-exposed prints:
the subject is in a dark room, maybe even wearing dark ...
Canon off-camera cord ??09 Jan 2004 20:17 GMT4
Hi, I have a Canon T90 that I want to shoot with a Canon 420ex speedlite. I
need to know which cord I need to use the flash off camera? I have two off
camera cord 2's. Will these work? Will the pins match up? What's the
difference between the "regular" off camera cord and the off ...
