Is there information in a JPG file that I upload from my digital camera that says what degree of compression has been used to write it ? Perhaps in the EXIF data, but I cannot identify it.

My Canon Powershot A70 has just suddenly stopped focusing. I have checked it is on auto and that macro is not on. The view screen is also out of focus.and also if I take video clips.I am not aware of dropping it etc. and batteries are ok.

I need to scan some old films using a 48 bits color depth (in order to keep the quality after some graphical process). My Canon CS5200F does it well but none of my graphical softwares can handle 48 bits picture.
