| Trade shows like PMA becoming irrelevant? | 28 Feb 2010 15:27 GMT | 7 |
I know that in certain industries (automotive and transportation, civilian and commercial) trade shows still matter, but do they matter for cameras? The lack of substantive releases during CES and the PMA point out perhaps that they don't. Canon avoided the CES and various

| Example of Dpreview and the "UN disease." | 27 Feb 2010 18:58 GMT | 9 |
The UN disease is seen where people use overly diplomatic language which is designed to water-down problems to describe clearly serious situations. The situation being that the new $2600 Nikon 70-200mm lens when set at 200mm and used on short distance shots is actually

| Panasonic lenses overpriced for performance? | 26 Feb 2010 17:17 GMT | 1 |
I'd say yes, recent tests on the Panleica 45mm macro confirms it. It costs over $1000 and yet it is blown away performance-wise by the recent Canon 100mm. In addition, the kit lenses for the Panasonic are not great lenses (especially the 45-200mm) and they cost over $300

| Old FD lens | 26 Feb 2010 13:17 GMT | 5 |
Can a Canon FD lens fit a Rebel with or without an adaptor, can it be used manualy or at all. It would be nice to get some use out of them. Auto exposure - focus, isnt important to me anyway

| Backlash against pro camera prices? Finally?? | 26 Feb 2010 02:10 GMT | 36 |
Looks like DPreview shaved some points off the D3s review owing to the cost of the camera. The Brit magazines have been doing that for years. I've used the pro Nikons and I love the bodies, the control you have, the responsiveness, but honestly, would owning the D700 at

| sanyo cameras | 25 Feb 2010 23:37 GMT | 3 |
A friend just bought an inexpensive Sanyo digital camera. There is no detailed instruction book - only a CD which can download the instructions. The problem is that when she sends a photo in an email, there are numbers and icons that are part of the picture. How can these

| Olympus idiots shut down their own site | 25 Feb 2010 22:05 GMT | 4 |
This was one of those "countdown" sites. Five days left, if it ever really meant anything. The marketing morons at Olympus have terminal foot-in-brain diseases. http://www.evolve.com.my/

| ACDSee 3.0 Pro + Nikon D90 | 25 Feb 2010 17:14 GMT | 2 |
I have just received a "last chance" discount coupon to upgrade to ACDSee 3.0 Pro. The last time I researched this program it still had the defect (along with version 2.5) of significantly lowering the brightness of NEF files which had been taken with the Nikon D90 after they ...

| Reducing quality of jpeg preview in raw images | 25 Feb 2010 00:37 GMT | 2 |
In our Raw image compression software (Rawzor), we are exploring an option to allow users to reduce quality of Jpeg preview included inside most Raw images. These Jpeg previews take a lot of space, sometimes upto 1-2 MB per raw image (10-15% of total size).

| Need w/a attachment for Canon A710IS | 24 Feb 2010 23:46 GMT | 17 |
I have a Canon Powershot A710 IS, and as I have a need for some wide-angle interior shots, hoped to be able to buy a wide-angle attachment for it to do this. I know these are pretty hopeless quality, but it would do the job here.

| Ricoh GXR sensor (APS) who made it? | 24 Feb 2010 21:39 GMT | 4 |
It seems to be testing well, even though the camera is an oddball. I wonder where the sensor came from?

| Lens Test / Alignment | 24 Feb 2010 14:30 GMT | 13 |
What do you use for testing your lens for front/rear focus alignment? The LensAlign looks to be a good tool but a bit on the pricey side for a hobbyist. Anything out there that is lower cost or maybe even free - that would be nice...

I have one idea: Facescape-find a face with a lot of character and shoot it in excrutiating detail, up cose. No points for beauty, lots of points for character. Any other ideas?
