Nikon D40 and AI teleconverter01 Apr 2009 00:41 GMT1
Anyone know of a reason I shouldn't use an old Tokina 2x AI
teleconverter with a Nikon D40 body and manual-focus lenses?

"Fossils In Death Valley National Park" Is Now Back Online31 Mar 2009 15:53 GMT1
After a hiatus of around five months, my page "Fossils In Death Valley
National Park" is now back up and running at a different address. The
new URL is http://inyo.110mb.com/dv/dvfossils.htm . That's where I
have numerous photographs of fossils and the natural scenery in Death
Battery Replacement31 Mar 2009 12:34 GMT9
A technologically challenged widow friend of my wife has a Kodak digital
camera with a dead INTERNAL battery so that she can no longer have the date
printed on the photos as she takes them.  She wants to do that to her
photos.  The Kodak camera is a DX6490.  Yes, I know she can ...

This weekend summertime (daylight saving time) started again.
A lot of clocks have to be adjusted. One of them the clock on my Panasonic
TZ3. If I switch to summertime the time does not change. So the alter my
home time I have to adjust the clock and can adjust that it is ...
Extendec Zome on the Panasonic FZ2831 Mar 2009 01:31 GMT2
My question is simple, how does the extended zoom work, and is the
picture degraded in any way? Thanks in advance.

Latest long zoom P&S terrible results30 Mar 2009 06:37 GMT9
Horrible.  And the hideous red fringe on things means the lens on that
toy isn't much good either.

I found the bug in Irfanview where it doesn't work properly on a large number of files30 Mar 2009 06:10 GMT14
I found what the bug is in Irfanview where it doesn't do batch and
thumbnail operations on file when the folder contains a large number of
files.
First, I googled for the problem and saw in these two forums that others

Which Epson printer?29 Mar 2009 21:03 GMT12
I can't make up my mind which Epson printer to buy, a 2880 or a 3800.
By all accounts the 3800 produces better images but it suffers from
the disadvantage that it's ink cartridges are much larger at 80ml.
They have a rated life of 6 months after they have been opened and

I'm looking at the B&H site and wondering if the Photek S-4010-4 (B&H#
PHBGSS12) is actually identical to the Impact 3046 (B&H# IMBGSS12).
Since they use identical photos and have the same eight reviews, even
though the Impact is $40 cheaper and shipping is less.
Olympus:  Are they F----- CRAZY?29 Mar 2009 01:55 GMT42
I just found out their u4/3rds model will have NO EVF!!!  Are they insane?
Part of what makes the Panasonic G1 a good choice is its terrific 1.3 meg.
EVF, which is better than the cheaper Olympus optical viewfinders, by a
long shot!  Now, it seems the upcoming Olympus camera ...
what is expressionist photography?28 Mar 2009 18:53 GMT1
I was blown away by the creativity of this 18 year-old female
photographer from the UK.  She calls her style, "expressionist
photography."  I've never heard of that term before, but I like it!
The pictures are of herself (tripod and a self-timer):
Technical question about image scaling28 Mar 2009 15:23 GMT3
As will be obvious, I'm new at this, but just want to
understand.
So everybody says optical zoom is good and digital zoom is
bad, and in general I understand why.  But my Canon A590 has
Again!  Another camera goes soft with a pixel jump!!28 Mar 2009 01:11 GMT10
Pentax K10D to K20D, 10 to 15 megapixel jump, images got soft.
Olympus E-410/510 to E-420/520 (no pixel jump but more NR) images went
soft.
Now, the newest Canon, same thing.  It's obvious something, high
