Surprised at Adorama!31 Jan 2009 22:19 GMT52
Went on their website to check an item I decided to buy and saw that their
price was the same as another usually reliable online vendor I often buy
from-- but Adorama was offering free shipping. So I put one in my cart and
start to check out-- only to see shipping charges listed. ...

Colored monochrome effect?30 Jan 2009 21:59 GMT4
I want to make a tinted or colored monochrome like what is painted on
Delft or Wedgwood china.  Dark areas should be shades of blue, lighter
backgrounds approaching white.
When I try things I keep ending up with black on shades of light blue,

Did the Canon posters drive her away?

Rapid Burial
Fossils all over the world show evidence of rapid burial. Many
fossils, such as fossilized jellyfish (a), show by the details of
their soft, fleshy portions (b) that they were buried rapidly, before

I own a A470.  The manual included is a minor waste of time.
I can READ the PDF manual using Adobe Acrobat 9.  Hassle!
I can PRINT the PDF, but all186 pages is too expensive.
Is there anyway I can convert it to a TEXT FILE so I can save it to my

Looking for monochrome CCD shots29 Jan 2009 13:36 GMT1
No Bayer (obviously) no AA filters.  Terrestrial shots with a monochrome
CCD with a decent (2 meg or better) pixel count.  Not astronomy shots
though.
Digital SLR recommendation please29 Jan 2009 08:20 GMT30
Can anyone make a recomendation of a decent digital SLR of around 500
quid/euros which produces high quality, sharp prints and is feature
rich but not overly complex to operate? I'm hoping to find something
in the 12 Megapixel range ideally. I've tried reading reviews, but
Cokin Filters28 Jan 2009 22:41 GMT3
Has anybody use Cokin filter frames and the multitude of filters they
have.  What are your experiences?
Were CCDs better on colour than CMOS?28 Jan 2009 18:42 GMT16
I heard this refrain time and again on the Olympus Dpreview group, that the
E-1 (CCD) had better colour than the NMOS sensors in the other Olympus
models.  This is the first time I've seen it mentioned on the Nikon group
(s).

Why don't camera reviews cover the data connection to the PC?28 Jan 2009 00:32 GMT363
I'm sad because I read the camera reviews and now that I've opened the
gift, I found out the Casio EXILIM camera uses a proprietary USB cable!
The reviews failed me.
I only found out when I tried to pull some pictures out that all my mini
End of an era27 Jan 2009 07:31 GMT34
I was at my local supermarket a few days ago.  It's a branch of a chain with
more than 400 stores.
In the window was a sign saying that after January 29, they will no longer
process film.
Canon - Nikon Observations27 Jan 2009 01:19 GMT202
Basically, I like the Nikon D90 better than the Canon Digital Rebel Xsi.
For me it just feels and handles better and there are more buttons for
quicker access to everyday controls.
The jury is still out about the Canon 50D.  Most of the reviews claim that
