LCD/TFT Screens and 4:3 viewing22 Aug 2008 06:17 GMT6
I am considering a new computer but monitors are causing me some confusion.
My digital images are in 4:3 proportion and I want naturally to preserve
that layout on a new LCD/TFT.  But the vast majority of  monitors today are
widescreen.  I do not want images to be stretched. ...
P&S's day has come and gone22 Aug 2008 03:12 GMT181
The other day I picked up a Nikon D100 and a Sigma 70-300mm zoom for $200.00
used in near mint condition.  I've seen Olympus and Pentax DSLRs going for
as low as $175.00 as "open box" (store demos).  Why would I even consider
(barring the extreme need for portability) a P&S?

Samsung S760: battery life21 Aug 2008 19:30 GMT19
Newbie thinking of getting a Samsung S760 as a first camera. It looks
a well made unit.
But what is the battery life going to be like? The unit takes 2 x AA
alkaline batteries.
Mounting photos for a local photography contest - How??21 Aug 2008 15:47 GMT1
A local group is running a photography context and I've never gone to
a one so that I would have an idea of what people do to mount the
pictures for submission.  I don't want to spend much more for the
mount than I do for the print.  ($5 or so.)
Framing of matte canvas paper21 Aug 2008 13:38 GMT3
Any suggestions on how to mount the HP Artist Matte Canvas paper into a
frame! (or other Canvas paper - I guess it's the same).
What would you do?
I think glass in front of the photo isn't a good choice. Do you have any
Panasonic TZ3, TZ4 or TZ521 Aug 2008 09:48 GMT30
I have just given away my Panasonic FZ18 to my son as I was not taking it
out with me. So am looking at the TZ range, which will go in  my pocket, but
am confused as all three are on sale and the TZ3 seems very good but should
I pay more and go for the TZ5. Why is it ...

Just Got an Olympus SP-570UZ Camera21 Aug 2008 01:50 GMT21
I've been looking for a super-zoom type of camera to supplement
the Olympus C5050 that I got years back.  I've tried out a bunch
of different cameras for about 3 years, but never was able to
find the right one.
Cool Pix 990 best flash?? including D40..20 Aug 2008 23:10 GMT1
Well I just got a SK 900 & AS-900 on eBay so I can use an external flash
on my 990.  As I understand it my SB-15 has either too much voltage or
current and needs an interposing relay or other isolation device.  I
kind of recall circuit diagrams for a homebrew device but don't ...
Is it OK to mix NiMH batteries?20 Aug 2008 22:52 GMT6
I had a set of 4 PowerEx 1800 mAH batteries from several years ago.  I
threw one of them away because my charger wouldn't charge it anymore,
so now there are 3 of them left.  I just bought a new charger, which
came with 2 Duracell 2000 mAH batteries.  Is it OK if I take one of
Cracked LCD Cover on a Canon G920 Aug 2008 17:03 GMT1
I recently purchased the Canon PowerShot G9.  In very short order I found a
crack on the LCD cover.  The camera wasn't dropped and I'm not sure how the
damage occurred.  Has anyone else had trouble with this LCD cover?
My two biggest regrets20 Aug 2008 11:08 GMT8
My two biggest regrets related to photography.
1. My first regret: Back in the early days of my film photography,
starting in 1974, I used a polarizing filter on almost all of my outdoor
pictures.  I liked the way it darkened the sky.  It wasn't until I
Best budget compact camera19 Aug 2008 19:10 GMT13
I'm looking for a compact 'point and shoot' camera to take walking as my
Canon A620 is a little bulky. Looking for around 6 MPX upwards, standard 3x
zoom or better but want a good sharp picture, minimal colour fringe.
It needs to be large enough to be useable i.e. not too small, but ...
Which ink runs out faster19 Aug 2008 18:03 GMT8
I have been using Canon i9900 ink jet printer with 8 ink cartridges.
It seems to me that it uses PhotoMagenta ink faster than any others.
I might be wrong on that but how about your ink printer?   Jack
