focus, then change focal length11 Jul 2008 14:25 GMT7
If I manually focus on something, then change the focal length, it seems
that the subject is still in focus.  This is handy, but can it be relied
on?  Is this something which is a given, or have I just been lucky so
far?  Perhaps it depends on the camera/lens?  I'm using an EOS ...

What is the Resolution of the EVF on the Oly SP-570UZ?11 Jul 2008 09:19 GMT1
I have been able to find the resolution for the 2.7" LCD for the
Olympus SP-570UZ, but cannot seem to find the resolution for the
EVF (Electronic View Finder) on that model.
Could someone please confirm what that EVF resolution is on the

Kodak Z650 - camera does not show up in easyshare software11 Jul 2008 04:45 GMT2
I have a Z650 camera.  When I connect it to my PC, it is recognized.
However, it does not show up in the kodak easyshare software and I can
not transfer pictures from it.  Any ideas?
High-capacity NiMH cells  -- very rapid self-discharge common?11 Jul 2008 04:45 GMT58
I recently bought some cheap no-name (actually "Tenergy," whatever that is)
2600mAh AA cells on eBay. I haven't tried to assess the accuracy of their
rating, don't know how I'd do that anyway, but I'm flabbergasted by how fast
they self-discharge -- a couple days or so, sometimes ...

low end digital / low light and macro ?11 Jul 2008 01:32 GMT19
I have a Fuji P&S... nice zoom... and, it does great daytime
pictures... but I have two problems with it.
This camera will not function once the Sun goes down... without
flash, it chokes even on a heavilly overcast day.
Cell phone camera quality vs. compact digital11 Jul 2008 00:41 GMT1
I just got back from a meeting where I needed to get a few photos for
documentation.  Problem was that I didn't have a camera handy (not
enough pockets and too many things to carry already).  So I thought, I
wonder how well cell phone cameras work (since I always have my phone)
Need camera to photograph white boards and electronic circuits10 Jul 2008 13:36 GMT21
I need to procure a digital camera to use for our work, the main
subjects will be white boards photographed after technical meetings
and a suite of electronics that we are developing.  We essentially
want to keep a photo journal (web-based).  The downside of our
dental photography recommendation10 Jul 2008 13:28 GMT11
I am dentist and I need to record some of my work with photos.
In the beginning I was thinking in buying the following pack:

Lumix FZ7 in Simple Mode10 Jul 2008 11:07 GMT3
All of a sudden when my Lumix FZ7 is in Simple Mode, via the dial,
it's actually in movie mode.
Is there some setting I've accidentally hit?
Does this mean the camera is on its way out?

Suitable Pocket camera for Railfanning?09 Jul 2008 22:15 GMT21
I'm looking for a reasonable priced pocket digital camera.  I want one with
a decent lense with a low aperture.
I'm interested in one with a good range of shutter speeds with less spacing
than say a film slr with 1/250 and the next increment being 1/500.  I would
Dust and scratch removal software09 Jul 2008 19:58 GMT2
Is there anything that can outperform Polaroid Dust and scratch filter for
automatically removing these blemishes from old scanned photos. My scanner
has FARE (ultraviolet detection and removal) but this does not work on B&W
negatives due to the silver content of the film. Thanks
