That slapping mirror15 Jul 2008 08:54 GMT76
Took the plunge and just bought my first DLSR. Could so far afford the
luxury of using cameras without slapping mirrors (my last camera was a
Sony R1).
Well, this slapping mirror is really an earthquake. When you press the

Refrigerating Li-ion batteries14 Jul 2008 16:11 GMT3
I've read that the life expectancy of lithium-ion rechargeable batteries can
be extended if they are kept cool, so I've thought that it might be a good
idea to keep them in the fridge when I'm not using them.
Anyone have experience with this, and any comments on whether it seems to

Stolen digital camera... How to trace with posted images?14 Jul 2008 15:52 GMT9
Recently, one of my people I know lost his digital camera during a Spain
trip. I have read and heard that image/photograph files can be traced
with their embedded datas like serial numbers or something. How does
this work? How can one tell what the camera used and used in the ...

Inconsistent luminescence readings with Eye-One Display 213 Jul 2008 01:49 GMT1
I just picked up and Eye-One Display 2 and have been calibrating my
monitor with it. I've been getting some weird readings for luminescence
values when using the device with the Eye-One Match software its bundled
with. After seemingly not being able to hit the target luminescence ...

Movie mode in UK digicam still limited to 10 mins?12 Jul 2008 21:28 GMT8
I am in the UK.  I would like to get a simple compact digicam that
records for longer than 10 minutes but I don't want to look for
something which I can't hope to find!
I seem to remember that in the UK a digital camera is not permitted to
Aiptek Camera/ video12 Jul 2008 21:21 GMT1
I recently picked one of these up from Target for only $100. It seems ok for
its purpose, but I have a couple of questions as the "Manual" says little.
How do I discover what model it is (Can't find it on the camera anywhere).
It says "Charger built in"  Do I assume this is done ...
Sharpening when the lens is soft12 Jul 2008 04:01 GMT21
Just wondering - if a lens is not very sharp it acts essentially as a
low pass filter. If this analogy holds, applying some sharpening in
post-processing (essentially a high pass filter) should compensate for
the lack of sharpness of the lens, right?
Canon G9 - What is the largest SD card it can use?11 Jul 2008 16:04 GMT8
What's the biggest SD card I can use in the G9?  All the literature I
can find says 2GB but the guy in the camera store says 16GB.
I just bought a G9. Very nice and the controls seem nicely done, but
there is a learning curve.
