Canon A570IS, 200 shots on eneloop, 10 shots on Alkaline18 Jul 2008 04:37 GMT30
I lent our A570IS to a relative for a cruise to Alaska. She didn't want
to take the NiMH batteries and charger, so I told her to bring plenty of
disposable AA Alkaline batteries, which she didn't, so she was buying AA
batteries on the ship (I cringe to think of the price that ...
question about 'remote storage'18 Jul 2008 00:01 GMT4
I wonder if anyone here can advise me on a rather unusual problem.
I'm being harrassed by antisocial teenagers in my neighbourhood, and
the police can't help me because I don't know their names or where
they live. And there are never any adults around whom I can point them
Does Sigma HSM work the Same Way as USM17 Jul 2008 18:25 GMT6
The reason I ask is that I found my new Sigma HSM lens would not allow
manual focus unless the AF switch is off. I thought one of the
advantages of USM or HSM is that you can always manually focus the
lens regardless of AF function. This is certainly the case on all my
Mark Thomas and the emoticons17 Jul 2008 10:51 GMT2
Any grown man who uses that many emoticons is either a) fond of
cock or b) a kiddie porn enthusiast.  Which are you, Mark?

Olympus E-520 autofocus problem17 Jul 2008 03:22 GMT6
I've never visited this group before but it seemed like a good place
to find another E-520 owner.
I had my E-520 for less than a week before I discovered a problem
with the autofocus when using the 13-42mm kit lens.
Apple's Aperture: batch change image ratings?17 Jul 2008 02:01 GMT1
I'm using Aperture 1.5.6 and have a ton of images with a variety of
ratings that I want to reset.  I figured selecting all the images and
doing Cmd-0 (for no rating) would work, but it only changes the rating
of the one image that's currently highlighted.  Any idea how I can do
Shutter Sticks in Waterproof Case16 Jul 2008 22:39 GMT2
When I scuba my Canon camera is enclosed in a WP-DC5 waterproof case.
Sometime the button for the shutter sticks in a half way down position.
I always clean the case in fresh water and I have also tried injecting
silicone grease into the lubricating slot of that button but it still ...
Macro mode16 Jul 2008 22:23 GMT92
What exactly happens when a camera is set to macro mode?
And why are some lenses "macro lenses" while others are not? Can a lens
which is not a macro lens take close-ups?
Okay, a real message about technology in cameras16 Jul 2008 22:00 GMT10
While the original message was a troll, there is something to be said
about the subject line.  The thing is, with a good camera you can pick
and choose which technical aids are appropriate for the shot you are
taking.  That is why many folks like a camera which allows manual

Olympus C-750 Ultra Zoot drives me crazy.16 Jul 2008 14:46 GMT8
I'm able to store customized settings of my Olympus C0750 Ultra Zoom and
they last for one battery change. When I change my batteries for the
second time, the customized settings are lost and they revert to the
factory settings.
DSLR lenses not good wide open at wide angle?16 Jul 2008 13:29 GMT8
The (expensive) Carl Zeiss 16-80 for the Sony Alpha DSLRs is only good
from F5.6 onwards. With wider apertures at wide angle the corners become
soft to very soft, depending on aperture and distance from the image
centre. According to photozone the same holds for several other ...
What's a digital camera???16 Jul 2008 03:54 GMT71
It's hard to believe that with digital cameras having been on the market
for over 10 years now, that there are STILL some people who have never
heard of them or know what they are!
I'm not talking about the elderly who might not be interested in

Selecting just JPGs in iPhoto?15 Jul 2008 11:54 GMT3
I just finished a shoot where I took both JPG and RAW images.  I imported
the whole set into iPhoto, and now I want to select just the JPGs.  I don't
see any way to do this, other than to go through the entire event and
individually select each JPG.  I must be missing something.  ...
