Back from the Dead26 Jul 2008 16:50 GMT27
I haven't been into photography for almost 40 years until my wife
bought me a digital negative scanner and I was able to scan over 100
rolls of B&W film that I had taken from 1968 to 1973.  It was a cheap
scanner but it did a pretty good job.  The negatives were mostly TriX

Canon G9: Are there any chat groups that discuss shooting video and sound ??25 Jul 2008 20:46 GMT5
I just got a Canon G9 and shot my first video and am trying to figure
out how to deal with my shortcomings and how to use the associated
editing software.  Does anyone know of a relevant chat group?

Need advice25 Jul 2008 06:32 GMT7
What is the best way to make copies of hundreds of 35mm slides?
I have  several hundred boxes of slides each with more than thirty
slides in it and would like to be able to make prints from them. I figure
that if I can get them into a digital format I can use any photo type ...

Good afternoon,
Can anyone recommend cheap stores with reliable digital cameras (such as jr,
bhphotovideo or tristatecamera in NYC) in LA and/or SF?
Thx!
Canon SD870 came in open box.  Is it normal?25 Jul 2008 01:40 GMT5
I ordered a SD870 from Amazon.  It came in open box.  Inside the box,
the manuals are sealed.  All other stuff are in individual plastic
bags but the camera is in an open plastic bag (with tiny foam
inside).  There is no plastic film on the LCD screen.  I am wondering

Irfanview freeware bug? Batch JPEG lossless autorotation. Large directory failure consistent23 Jul 2008 01:42 GMT104
Can you reproduce this WinXP Irfanview v4.10 bug?
1. Start with a large directory of JPEG files (at least a few hundred
pictures, say about 400 or 500 from a normal photo shoot). These must have
a few files that are not rotated yet, but which have the proper Exif tags.
Built in Lens Cap not opening all the way - Canon23 Jul 2008 01:14 GMT1
I have a Canon A560.  The built in lens cap is not opening all the
way.  This happens randomly, but is not acceptable.  I contacted Canon
and was told to send it in for repair.  I can just imagine waiting
weeks or longer and being without a camera all that time.  Besides

I wonder if anyone here can advise me on a rather unusual problem.
I'm being harrassed by antisocial teenagers in my neighbourhood, and
the police can't help me because I don't know their names or where
they live. And there are never any adults around whom I can point
Speaking of Irfanview - remembering folders..?22 Jul 2008 11:46 GMT15
I like most of Irfanview, but one thing...  I open a file from thumbnail
view and then want to save it under a new name *in that folder*.  But
Irfanview wants to save the file in whatever folder I last saved a file
in - it doesn't use the current folder.

Just kidding, of course, but I am trying to remove the Ritas, one post at a
time ;>)
