new F100fd camera?
Shooting flying birds -- how to set the focus? (Canon 40D)....18 Jun 2008 11:32 GMT13
I was shooting Cliff Swallows on the weekend, trying to get them in
the air. Shooting 1600 ISO, Tv at 1/2000, sunlight (aperture was
around f8-11), 300mm lens. Most of the time I was set at AI Servo AF
and automatic focus point selection, but foreground birds that I
Lens filters18 Jun 2008 11:19 GMT15
While I'm on a roll with questions here, how about filters? I have a UV filter
on one of my lenses and a Skylight filter on the other. I consider them for
protecting the lens which is something I was told to do years ago. How does
either affect color and is one better tha the other ...

Took the plunge17 Jun 2008 21:07 GMT24
It is not like I've been using "state of the art" equipment so I guess
the change is greater than many who make the switch from film to
digital. I've decided that it is time for me to retire my two Canon
FTb's and take the digital plunge. After months of research and
Sony A-100 vs a-70017 Jun 2008 20:15 GMT12
I have the Sony A-100 camera. I believe I get great photos from this
camera. I take lots of photos. In fact I never leave home or anywhere
else without my camera. I have owned my Sony A-100 for about a year. I
would like to start making some money doing small jobs. I have already
EC14 or EC2017 Jun 2008 13:51 GMT2
I am considering buying either an EC14 or EC20 teleconverter to use with
a 50-200 lens (Olympus). Which one will be better? For example I have
found the following in Kelby DPB:
"Note : Some pros advise against 2x teleconverters because they feel 2x
TIME TO BREAK OUT THE BIG STICK!17 Jun 2008 13:34 GMT33
Tired of clubbing Rita with the 40D, I decided to break out a new
weapon tonight.

favorite wide angle lens for canon 5d?17 Jun 2008 12:18 GMT34
hey all,
i just picked up a canon 5d, and would like recommendations on a wide angle
lens.  i've had a canon 10-22 for a couple of years and really love it, but
it obviously won't work with this camera.  any thoughts on the canon 16-35
Printing paper to mimic old air-dried glossy?17 Jun 2008 07:15 GMT5
I would like to print some black & white images on paper that would be
similar to effect obtained by printing silver-process images on air
dried glass paper. I can't spot any paper in the Epson line that
promises to do that. I have been using Epson premium photo paper
How many megapixcels equivalent to 35 mm in quality17 Jun 2008 04:49 GMT83
How many megapixels does a digital camera need to produce an 8" by
10" print equivalent in quality to what one would get from a 35 mm camera
(or for that matter a larger format) shooting a top of the run film, such
as a major brand 100-125 ASA color (or black and white) film.
Cannon v Nikon lens17 Jun 2008 02:35 GMT23
Ok, this is the options (and forget range of lenses!) :-
1/ I decided to buy Cannon because the lenses are best at……
2/ I decided to buy Nikon because the lenses are best at……
The reason is, I just read a post within your group which suggest each
Sony Alpha 350 and Photomatix17 Jun 2008 00:59 GMT1
I have an Alpha 100 which can do three photographs individually with an EV
spread of either 0.3 or 0.7. I have been reading about the new Sony Alpha
350. From my interpretation of their manual, the camera can, in one shot, do
three photos with a preselected EV spread. They say ...
Panasonic DMC-LX2 user comments please.16 Jun 2008 16:51 GMT4
I'm looking for a small (read pocketable) digital camera that shoots in
RAW mode. I've narrowed my choice down to a Panasonic DMC-LX2 and I'm
looking for user comments good or bad please.
Many thanks,
