Digital camera firmware update24 May 2008 07:04 GMT3
Yesterday we bought a Kodak V803 for my wife to take on a cruise. There is a
firmware update to speed up power up and capture time when using the flash.
She can probably get along fine w/o the update but I'd like to do it.
I downloaded the file and unzipped it per the instructions ...
backup systems24 May 2008 06:31 GMT18
I'm looking for advice on backup schemes. I'm aware of CD-R, DVD, RAID,
using external USB/firewire disks, and tape drives but I'm curious how
others are backing up large collections. RAW file sizes have made
backups by DVD unrealistic. I know I can backup to multiple external
Camera Info24 May 2008 03:11 GMT8
Would someone be able to give me some advice please?
I have been using a Nikon D70 for a few years now, mainly to take
archeaological photographs for web and publishing. These include pics
on-site as well as close-up work (Nikkor 105mm) of various artefacts.
Camera Choice for Sailing24 May 2008 01:54 GMT12
I may have made my mind up, but before I buy I'd welcome any comments.
I sail a small cruiser in the Thames Estuary and very much enjoy
taking photos from the boat, of other boats and wildlife; currently
with a 35mm SLR. However, I use digital for other photography and now
Buying SDHC cards from eBay... how can I know which merchants are reliable? How to guard against fake cards?24 May 2008 00:35 GMT21
I would like to buy a Sandisk 16 GB SDHC card. I'm from Canada and
those capacities are very scarce in the stores here. Costs are high --
like $200 and over.
B&H sells the 16GB Ultra II card for $150, but the shipping costs are

Canon Ixus - downloading to PC?23 May 2008 07:48 GMT2
On my old PC when I connected my Canon Ixus 60 to a USB socket I would
get a simple pop-up window automatically downloading the files and
then asking me to confirm I wished to delete them. Somehow on my new
PC I've screwed up this tidy setup, and I now get this window:
This is supposed to be an election where all the votes are counted,     not a Madonna concert !22 May 2008 17:55 GMT2
There are only two plausible choices in this election, given the
climate, the character and the tumultuous times we are living in. It
will either be President Clinton or President McBush. This is an
election where all the votes should be counted, it is not about

The spam flood22 May 2008 02:54 GMT26
I notice the spam flood has virtually disappeared from the other four
newsgroups I subscribe to.  It only seems to continue on rpd.
I know on one of my groups someone took action somehow to convert all
of those spam message titles to the word "spam", so it may be that
Canon vs Nikon, the final word?22 May 2008 02:30 GMT26
That's right!
I know this is one of those burning issues that people just can't make up
their minds on.  Which camera takes better pics, the Canon A720 or the Nikon

From Cricketlogic.blogspot.com
For any cricketer, Test cricket is the ultimate. And, so is the
feeling of wearing your country's Test cap. Perhaps, that explains the
outrage of former players, and also fans,  when Cricket Australia made
